Granted...you probably would have even if they were terrible , but they are a lot better than many, including myself thought.

That said, they still look like the 3rd best team in the nation after Alabama and Oregon.
Hossy actually gave notre dame some respect a little over half way through the season.

He said he could have tried putting up style points and opening te offense up but that's not who they are and it would be a disservice to the team. They hit you in the mouth on defense and hit you in the mouth on offense with their run game.
i disagree, they get more than their share of attention. i am surprised at so many who think bama has it all wrapped up. everyone ought to know that nothing is a sure thing in football. just look at cleveland beating pittsburgh for example. or kstate and oregon going down a couple weeks ago.
i guess it comes down to ND having had so many close calls this year? that and people thinking others would finish ahead of them, and they wouldn't get into the title game.
and i'm not sure about mottos coming out of kellys mouth, but i don't care for the guys histrionics. but then, i always thought petrino was an ass, spurrier is another who rankles, and nick is also over the top at times. no need to completely lose your mind on the sidelines.

No it was not you. You were the gem I spoke of earlier in this thread. No need to thank me.

ND is not only the most hated team but the most popular as well. That makes them special simply because as Danzig has pointed out money is more important than fairness in college football. The schedule they play is fine. They are an indepenent and have to play who they can schedule. Lets face it there are 5 good SEC teams and the rest stink. Some of the teams that they are playing in November is embarrasing. (Jacksonville state, Western Carolina)

Florida needed a miracle to beat LA-Lafeyette at home a few weeks ago so no tears for them.

IMO Alabama is the best team in the country but they have so many built in advantages that they can't complain about the system.

IMO Notre Dame might be the 7th or 8th best team.

BUT the fact is ND has done what the system rewards and by not losing they get their chance. They are the one team that will get a fair chance to win the title. Alabama will probably beat GA and get a chance though I'm not sure that they deserve the chance more than many of the other 1 loss teams or even A & M who beat them on their home field. That is the issue that I have always had with the BCS especially when compared to the basketball tourney. Be realistic if you arent an SEC team you have to go undefeated and even then you better be from a big conference and start off the year ranked. Why have 124 Div 1 teams if only 12 (or less) have any prayer of winning the title?

No they didnt schedule any terrible teams like the SEC teams do but most of the teams they played this year outside of Stanford had down or average years. Some of them had terrible years. The schedules are meaningless for the most part.

I still give them credit for doing what they did. When all is said and done I think they are still the third best team I have seen this year, but they should be commended for getting through the season undefeated. I doubt many people thought they could do it.

You called it from day one, and I can certainly appreciate that. Enjoy the ride.

But your approach today just reinforces what a lot of people dislike about ND...which is their fans.

7th or 8th best? Who are the 6 or 7 teams better?

So who was the mystery person (I believe you said they were female) that talks about you, that some made up person sends you pms whenever they say something about you?

Methinks you have your lies confused. Funny when that happens.

My approach made me a bad fan? I'm sorry I don't just sit back and ignore the constant bashing that has gone on in this thread. When someone says a 12-0 team couldn't beat anyone in the top 10 I'm going to come out firing. Find something bad I said today that wasn't provoked.

The me against the world mentality is kind of silly man. I never said you were a bad fan. I said your approach today, is what turns a lot of people off to ND. The underdog, we get no respect, everyone who can't quote Rudy word for word is a hater stuff is what makes people dislike ND. Mostly because none of it is true and is perpetuated by their fans who can't understand why everyone else doesn't "get it."

Obviously the not beating anyone in the top 10 comment was ridiculous and people called it out.

I think you're taking some of this stuff to heart, when it's not meant to. Your board name is IrishofNDman dude. You have to expect a little needling about ND for that reason alone, right?

I grew up with my family liking notre dame and a couple friends. Being from michigan I am surrounded by state and wolverine fans who hate and I mean hate notre dame. Maybe growing up hearing **** from them constantly gave me the us against the world mentality... Maybe someone like Rick Reilly writing that article about ND being irrelevant gives us that mentality. I dish it out and expect it back, if you think this is bad you should see the shi* I've gotten into on Facebook with people. Alcohol and the Internet don't mix too well haha

Last thing for the night, if Manti Teo doesn't win the heisman then that award is officially offensive players only. I honestly think they will give it to him and he is well deserving of it. He embodies what a college athlete should be on and off the field, class act.

I agree with all of this with one exception. I think Notre Dame might be the 10th or 11th best team. If they were playing today, I would take Alabama, Stanford, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ohio St, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas A&M over them and maybe Florida St. I think Georgia beats them by at least 10 and Bama by at least 17.
