I already knew about this town from history books, but this gives more details. I didn't know about the smelling of sweetness being a symptom.

Wow; that was a really cool read. Thanks for posting it!
It's interesting that the plague still exists today, though it's generally not quite as deadly, while the sweating sickness completely burned itself out. I don't think they're 100 percent sure today what it was. Maybe a form of hantavirus, but no one knows for certain.
