Default 12/27: AQU Returns (4th-9th)

Wednesday's Santa Anita Opening Day ended as one of the year's highlights with a lucrative late P4 score for more than $1,700 on a $1 play. Outstanding prices on very logical Kip Deville in the Sir Beaumont ($16.20) and Latent Heat ($13.40) in the Malibu drove the bonanza quad with post time favorites Pirate's Deputy ($6.00) and Silk Kerchief ($11.60) bookending the Baffert and Frankel stakes winners.

The surprising return, nearly twice the parley, more than made up for Friday's silly $9.00 loss in the Calder P4. It also represented the third time in five days we were able to steer through a four race gauntlet. If there was any question that the P4 is the best wager for modest investors at the track, Tuesday's return should be a reassurence. Hope some of you had it...

Wednesday brings the return of NY to the scene after a nine day break, and a good group of events in the P6 skien invited attention...

SELECTIONS -- Aqueduct, 12/27 (R4-9)

4th: NYB-MSW, 2yo fillies, 6f (P6, P6)

Tough way to start a P6 ticket if you're playing it..

1. #9 Freakazoid 10-1: 3rd Hills' miss goggled, cuts back; Faced some decent gals
2. #3 Positive Charge 3-1: 2nd Ramon sticks with Pregman bay by Jump Start
A. #4 Abbyroar 9-2: WON Rice reaches out to hustling Lopez for Forestry filly
B. #1 Timely Punch 7-2: Arroyo great with Bush

LONGSHOT ALERT: #10 Nantasket 30-1: 4th Scary outsider from capable Micelli drew 13 hole in debut and 'off slow/wide'.. What kind of chance did she have?

Another toughie to end a challenging card.. Leaving #13 Starhumor (5-2 ML fave) off picks, but is a use in multi-race plays..

ADDED NOTE: With 4 scratches here, #10 Starhumor 2nd leaves from post #9 , originally from the 13, and becomes a more logical play..

1. #1e Contessa entry: WON Only one will go with Ramon double-named (SCR #1 New York Moon)
2. #2e Kelly entry 10-1: 4th Price appeals with #2 Ketch Up Boy moving forward (SCR #2 Ketch Up Boy)

$1 Trifecta 1-10-4 $240.00
$1 Quad/Superfecta 1-10-4-2 $1529.50
$1 Double 8/1 $20.10

<$50 P4 Play:

6: 1-2-6
7: 3-8-9
8: 3-8
9; 8-10

3x3x2x2 = $36

<$100 P6 Play:

4: 1-3-4-5-9-10
5: 9
6: 1-6
7: 3-8
8: 3-8
9: 10

6x1x2x2x2x1 = 48 x $2 = $96

Good luck!
Steve

I watched a Maker trained horse (Montstar) last night roll away in a 3 yo allowance - but I didn't see that coming today from Baby Yaya.

Of course Steve i placed a bet today and was alive for a $5 double with the favorite in the 7th.Needless to say i wasn't comfortable with 4 turning for home.I think we found out today what he is.I do love the 3 in the last race today and will be betting the horse.
