Default Wednesday at Royal Ascot

Looks another great card.

Have to say first though, tha the race course is simply sensational, amazing. The best Ive been to by far. It looks incredible and has such a presence about it. I saw the Queen officially open the course and all the pomp and ceremony that goes with the Royal family. typically British. It was great to be present there on such a historic day. I had a super day at the track.

I got off to a great start with Hellvelyn in the first. I thought he was the best juvenile around and he proved it.I was delighted for everyone associated with Takeover Target, the bargain buy who just got up to beat our best sprinters. I believe if all is OK, he races again on Saturday. Araafa easily did the business, but Stormy River ran a very strange race. Was readible outpaced early on and gave leaders a huge head start but ran on best of them all.

Ad Valorem would have been taken down if Peeress had finished 2nd. He was the best horse in the race and I dont believe that Court Masterpiece should be awarded the race if he wasnt the best horse. Proclamation ran a decent race on his first run since September. He wasnt far away and Im sure everyone will fancy him to reverse form with the winner next time.

I backed Elhamri in the last which made it a winning day. He was 54-1 on the tote. I know the owners son, and he reckoned he'd go close on quick ground.

Anyway, today's card
2:35
14 run
Jersey Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo)

Asset could be made for this race with 7f and fast ground. he should win it, but there are alot of potential improvers in the race like Secret World and Levera. Ill stick with the proven Asset.

3:10
10 run
Windsor Forest Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) (4yo+)

I like Soviet Song, but she has never won at Royal Ascot and lost out in this last year to Peeress. SS is better than Echelon and the biggest danger will probably be Luas Line (even though Luas gives weight away to all) who will love the ground.

3:50
7 run
Prince of Wales's Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (4yo+)

With Godolphins runners not quite hitting top stride I marginally prefer David Junior who is quickly becoming a top class horse. Ace is certainly worth an investment as he has blinkers back on and certainly has the talent. If he behaves himself in the paddock, he'll go close. People may be looking back at this race in November as a prep for the BC Classic.

Ouija Board could win it, an it'd be great if she could, but with the lack of pace on she may be vulnerable. I also beleive shes not quite her best over 10f. Fine against other fillies and mares but with this field, I think she'll get caught out. Peslier rides her for the first time as well.

4:25
30 run
Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+)

Another impossible handicap. Divine Gift for me ahead of Pride Of Nation

4:55
15 run
Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)

Roxan by Rock Of Gibraltar was very impressive in her debut run and should win it. Princess Iris by Desert Prince can trouble her.

and finally

5:30
21 run
Sandringham Handicap (Listed Race) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo,0-110)

One of the poorest races of the week. Had a very quick look and I saw Sharapova's win and she looked to be a filly going places!

My sentimental favorite is Ace.....

One of the great races of the year... I'm just going to enjoy it and hope he does well. Very happy the blinkers are back on.

Good luck to you today.
