I am so sick of everyone trying to insinuate that Jazil is worthy of some extra respect because he won the most irrelevant race in the world, a 12f dirt race in America. So what. Does Sarava deserve respect too? Neither of them deserves any respect for anything. They were the best horses on that day in probably the weakest grade ones of their respective years at a distance that doesn't matter anymore. Give it a rest talking about how great it is to have a classic winner back at four. I'd rather have Bluegrass Cat back instead of Jazil. I think it's better for the game that Brother Derek and Lawyer Ron are back than it is that Jazil is back. At least those horses are multiple graded stakes winners. Hell, it's better for the game that Corinthian is back than it is Jazil. I mean, he's beaten him ALL THREE TIMES they've met.

I must have missed all the threads started by people betting bags of money on Jazil in Florida. This board has really gotta put an end to all the Pro-Jazil threads. So damn many of them.

It's not like that slowpoke is a coveted stallion prospect anyway.

I bought one of these for myself, but how about we all pitch in 50 cents to a dollar and buy one of these for pointgiven?

I think it's perfectly appropriate!

This is the worst news imaginable.. I was prepared for just about anything, but NOT this...

I hope you'll reconsider. If you leave countless hearts will be broken... we all love you, never forget that.

Well if we all liked the same horse (or horses) this game would be a little less enjoyable.

Never been a huge backer of Jazil. I doubt I ever put him anywhere other than 3rd or 4th in my exotic plays.

However, I can't begrudge his supporters for liking him. Seeing a deep closer make his run and cross the wire first is probably one of the most enjoyable sights to watch in racing. I would agree with the sentiment that we need more horses like him.

I was never a Stinky Jones fan either - even after winning two legs of the TC. I'm just stubborn like that sometimes. As it turns out, he was a pretty decent horse.

In fact, contrary to most racing fans I've rooted against all the 'recent' horses who have given a TC sweep a run. I'd love for the sport to have a TC winner, but I want that horse to be a special horse. Even horses like Real Quiet and Silver Charm who I liked in the Derby I was hoping would fall short in the Belmont.

I also was a Barbaro doubter, but that horse changed my mind after the Derby win. I wasn't rooting for a TC for him either, but he did change my opinion of him. I thought he would be best on the grass, but the surface didn't seem to matter to him.

I played against Barbaro in the Preakness, and the rather ghoulish thought 'this really helps my exacta and tri' jumped immediately into my head. I hated that thought, and it was without doubt the worst feeling I have ever had cashing a ticket.

Similarly, when Inexcessivelygood broke down after I prematurely celebrated an exacta hit in the '97 Jim Beam I really could have cared less about the ticket. I was crushed that a fine racehorse was no more. Other bettors probably cashed tickets they likely would have preferred to be losers.

It's a rough game sometimes, but the good outweighs the bad and whether you like a horse or not can become completely irrelevant in the blink of an eye.

Even if you think Jazil is the most over rated horse in the history of racing, you should be thankful for what he is - healthy and still running from the back of the pack.

Your opinion of him versus others is really a poor reason to leave a website devoted to discussing the pleasures and pitfalls of the game. Just something to think about.

All of this debate is fun. But have to say Jazil is what he is. A one-paced horse who at distances up to and probably including ten furlongs will be at a distinct disadvantage due topace setups. Like I said in another thread Jara will continually be forced to middle move or move early and that will severely diminish his grinding ability to get a distance of ground.

He is a Classic winner and it is nice to see him back but I agree with other posters that A) he is not commercially going to be well received at stud so running him as a four year old makes sense and B) while it is one of my three favorite races, The Belmont has lost a bit of significance due to the distance of the race.

I believe Jazil will continue to fill out tickets underneath but wins will be very hard to come by

HUH? We all don't hold your ding-ding for picking a 2-1 shot to win and get mad at you for bashing a horse who did finish 2nd (By 10 yes but still second when you said he wouldn't) and you decide to leave?

ANYWAYS! Congrats on the win yesterday. I do hope you went out and had some fun with the $$$! Hope to see you back soon.

I really don't understand why you are leaving. No one said anything bad or called you names or anything like that. I gave you props for sticking to your guns about Corithian.

And Jazil is a useful horse. I would want to own him. He would make me some $$$$. But then again, I want to own Perfect Drift.

I said I wouldn't invest money in him as he said he'd rather own about 200 horses out there before owning Jazil.
