Default Question for movie goers!

Has anyone seen the 1982 remake of Cat People staring Nastassia Kinski? OK, I admit that I rewatched it cause I had a huge crush on her in the 80's-90's and she was fine in this movie, I had seen it years ago but couldn't remember much (except Nastassia!)...here's my problem, I don't get the ending at all, does anyone have any insight?

Somer,

Haven't seen it in years, but recall it having a cool Giorgio Moroder soundtrack.. The '40's original is famous for the decision to never show the "cat people" because the director was unhappy with the utterly ridiculous costuming.. It ended up making the film that much more tension-filled. I believe it was an influence on Spielberg for 'Jaws' in regards to building the anticipation of actually seeing the 'monster'...

Yeah, this version was OK, rather slow in parts but it did address some taboo subject matter (incest, sex with animals) and the late sceen with her tied to the bed spread-eagle and completely nude kept my attention to be sure but the ending made no logical sense to me...unless one concluded that she made the choice to punish herself which isn't in line with her comments so..???
