New Turf Star....?
Citronnade was very strong again today, third time in a row now she has looked very good on the turf.... She can stalk, close or set the pace, which is a great thing, and i think she could be a major player in the female turf division.... that might not be saying much because the division looks weak again, but she could make alot of money, winning alot of races this year.

There is zero chance she loses a race this year.

I definitly dont think she is the best but i think shes alot more then a front runner, i had her 3 starts back where she sat well off the pace and still won for fun, the horse she beat in that race then came back to defeat Naissance Royale. |

I'd like to see her beat Vacare first. If Vacare progresses at all into her four year old season, she's going to be a monster.

Vacare is...undefeated...picture perfect in every start. She may be untested, but at this point in time she has to be respected. I think Mauralakana who she beat at Keeneland then was mis-placed in the BC F&M Turf is a nice filly.

Cit. broke the SA stakes record (set by Exchange in 1993).
Visually impressive in the ring/paddock. She did a little two-step with a skip her first time around the walking ring which my discerning eye recognized immediately as a sign that she was not sore..... but rather "ready to rock". Her body language, not mine. Absolutely crushed the field. Frankel/Filly/Turf/SoCal I think I have seen this racket develop before. |

Then, look how well Citronnade came back this year, so if we even begin to imagine that Vacare got any better than she was last year she's going to make a serious hoofprint on the division. Well that, and someone's gotta beat her first. At least now that she's four we'll get to see her take on some of the big girls instead of 3yos only. |

Frankel does have the best Turf Filly in the country, but it's PRICE TAG.

A couple of turf colts to look out for are Mast Track and Whatsthescript. Whatsthescript has been running out in Cali, and has shown great grass form. He failed miserably in his only dirt race, but could have been suffering from some soundness issues because he took three months off after that. In his comeback race on the turf, the horse delivered.
Mast Track is the Bobby Frankel trainee (he also owns the horse) that just broke his maiden by three at the Fairgrounds even though he ran greenly and was under a strangle hold. Frankel has turned down quite a bit of money for this colt, and I believe that he could be a future star. Last edited by kentuckyrosesinmay : 03-26-2007 at 10:56 PM. |
