They should have never put Frankie on that horse. They should have stuck with Gomez, different result.

Frankie tried running this race like it was in Europe, when it was run like an American race

for about the first half mile i was saying 'why is HE back there, and HE up there???'

discreet had nothing today. hope everything is well, and they don't just retire him...knowing his owner, he's quick to throw them into the shed. DC has been much better then that...

I saw it differently, he never got comfortable, he tried to put him up the rail. He had horse, and then he wrapped him up at the top of the stretch because he wasn't getting anywhere near. Horse wanted no part of the rail and all those horses around him

Thank you. I don't want to hear anything about the jockey or the distance doing in Discreet Cat. The freaking horse didn't run a step.

I agree it could've been different. They were going really slow up front and he rushed him in between, then stopped him a bit and by then the front 2 were long gone. Send him and see what happens. Strange.

he sure didn't.

it wasn't the ride or the distance--would make no sense to say it was due to 10f, he was out of it from the start.
just hope it wasn't the last time we see him.

Maybe some of these public handicappers can stop making such a big deal about DC's 1:32 and change at Aqueduct, on that paved highway.

Once again the World Cup didn't disappoint.
And good for Fernando Jara.
Yes let's take away everything the horse ever did b/c he's run 1 bad race in his career. I agree. How silly you are.

i don't think one has anything to do with the other. this is DC's first bad race, it happens to just about all of them. just like it happened to invasor a year ago.

Randall, you've gotta remember: This is the place where people call Bernardini an overrated cow for losing by a length to Invasor.

Not so obscure; his sire Candy Stripes has also given us Different (Beverley D and Spinster S), Leroidesanimaux (champion turfer), a batch of group winners in the Southern Hemiphere, including an Oaks winner in South Africa, and his daughter Candy Girl foaled Candy Ride (Pacific Classic, you remember that awesome race). Son of Blushing Groom out of a Lyphard mare, hardly weird or obscure. Just not Storm Cat or A.P. Indy.

perhaps i should preface all posts like mine above in future with 'comparably'...yes, he's got a good sire--but had he been an ap indy, a storm cat, etc, he'd be retired now. sheesh. it's saturday, can we limit schooling to monday thru friday??

Still nothing like the call for Invasor when he won the Pimlico Special, and started to stake his claim to a great horse, hearing that scream of IN-VA-SORE, THE ARGENTIAN INVASION, IN THE PIMLICO SPECIAL!!!

Still gives me chills, yet though he impressed me, I didn't and I don't think that many had a clue of just how special this horse was going to be over the past year, especially in that somewhat weak Special field...
