Default Howard Stern

Sorry, I'm not trying to re-kindle the Imus talk here. I'm too lazy to read 15 pages in that other thread, so if this was talked about already I'm sorry. But we all know Stern and Imus hate each other, so has anyone heard what Stern has had to say about all this? I'm assuming between the fact that he hates Imus, and that Stern faces a firestorm from critics and the FCC every two minutes for the stuff he says, HE'S GOTTA BE HAVING A FIELD DAY WITH THIS.

The only thing I heard was that Robin said on the show that Imus called her the "n" word in the past...don't know the context whether she was joking or serious!

Stern is very good at being flat out mean also. He pulls "people" off the street, the kind that have an arm growing out of the side of their head, and just makes fun of them. Or if they are well endowed and stupid, he creams them while wanting to cream on them.

I think Stern gets his kicks making women look stupid and then just drooling on them. "Oh baby have you got a set... and Im not talking two halves of a brain"...That kind of thing constantly. But of course he does this with all colors of women.

I promised myself that I wouldn't start on Stern and his sheep...seems like he would be the last person on earth to talk about someone making inappropriate remarks but of course I'd be wrong!

Well he does abuse volunteers, so I guess thats ok... with most of the public.
But I agree. Both of these men seem to be flat out mean. They pick on the easy targets. Imus did not know he was shooting at a hurricane. I have now listened to some past stuff that Imus has done and he is funny, sometimes. I have never found Stern funny. Just interesting. His ego is lots bigger than his schwantz.

Both are into testing limits.

Both are insignificant, but the fact that Stern has so many followers scares the hell out of me!

Today Imus held the 18th radiothon for the Tommorrows Children Foundation,The CJ Foundation for SIDS and the Imus ranch for kids with cancer. He was instrumental in the raising of money for the hospital for war veterans in San Antonio and for the increase in death benefits for soldiers families from the paltry amount of 13k to 250k.What he said was stupid and often it's a result from something his producer Bernie says, but his positive actions from being on the airways tower over Howard Stern.

You know, in the mid-1990's I listened to Howard Stern whenever my bosses were out of the office and I thought he was really funny. BUT- what made him funny, honestly, was that I knew he was married to a pretty, bright, but basically typical, woman, with kids. What made it funny was knowing the obnoxious boob-crazy lout was going home at night to his wife and kids- to me, it was kind of a funny peek into the mind of any average guy. It was his schtick, and it worked really well. Once he and his wife got divorced, and he really was out sleeping with strippers (or at least, you knew he could now if he wanted), it just lost the funny because he was just another rich famous guy who could be as obnoxious as he wanted to be because he had no restrictions. He was no longer someone I could see the average guy identifying with, you know?

So, why I no longer listen to him- his particular gimmick is gone, and what's left just isn't funny to me without the gimmick. Which makes me sad, because I really did enjoy him for many years.

I feel the same way about him.

Although his fiance seemed very normal on The View a couple of weeks ago. She does look like Claudia Sheffer though.

Yeah- and so he becomes yet another rich, ugly guy with a beautiful girl. And it makes him less unique.

I really liked "Private Parts." (the book and the movie both)

I liked the movie too. Never read the book.

Well that's the thing. Stern is under a firestrom every 2 minutes for the stuff he says. So when the guy he hates gets in trouble for it, it's a win/win situation for Stern.

I wouldn't be shocked if Sirius/XM (they are merged now right?) picks up Imus. He'd still have enough of a following to garner subscribership, and Sirius/XM could low-ball him beased on his current situation.

Speculating or taking second or third hand heresay info on things isn't really a good way to make a decision on something.
Hoss: so you're telling me that Stern has grown up and is Not berating women and generally being a sleazeball? Wonders never cease.

That's a positive???? (I'm soooooo teasing you. )

In seriousness, the criticizing and complaining about lack of sex, etc., from his wife to me again, was part of the gimmick.

DaHoss, I don't mean to imply Stern does 4 hours of interviewing porn stars every day, but it's just not as funny to me to listen to someone who doesn't have to answer to anyone run his mouth off about whatever he feels like. While he was married to someone who loved him before he was famous, it gave a great angle to what he was doing. Now, like I said, he's just another rich ugly guy who says, does, and sleeps with whatever and whoever he wants. If I want that, I can read the political pages.
