![]() At the Feb 2007 OBS 2 year old sale, I watched two horses that I felt had a lot of potential. One sold for far less than what I thought she was worth. Since I don't have the money to actually buy one of these beautiful animals, I wanted to go on record for identifying the value in these two youngsters.
Preachin Man is the son of Songandaprayer and Sweet Cameron. He ran a 10.1 under saddle at the sale. Preachin Man was withdrawn from the sale. But, I believe he was worth at 200K. If anyone knows how much the owner paid, I really like to know. Tigeroo is the daughter of Hold than Tiger and Barronette. She ran a 10.2 and 10.3 under saddle at the sale. She sold for 85K at the sale. Plus, she is from the New Episode Training Center where Funny Cide was trained. The owners are a couple of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. While I don't know much, I closely watched all the horse run that day. And, these two ran effortlessly. I believe it is worth putting these two on your horse watch list. |

![]() I like to keep up with horses from sales that I really like. We have running QH's and I always like to "stable alert" the 2yr olds that I like but are maybe out of my price range.

You're talking about Preachin Man Songandaprayer-Sweet Cameron? I thought you were kidding at first, taking a first-time MSW winner and then pretending that you had watch-listed him from a sale! I didn't realize you were genuinely not kidding around. http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbP...&RACE=2&BorP=B |

I apologize...let me rephrase my comments...Eric Reed is a complete non-winner and a handicapping throw-out at every track not named Beulah, River Downs, Turfway Park and Ellis. I have never met him and have heard he is a very nice guy, so this is no knock on him as a person. Everyone has to take stands when you are in this game and sometimes it hurts you. For example, I was told that Ronny's horse (Preachin Man) had trained as good as any baby at KEE in the last couple years and the only bets I cashed were DD and PK3 because I can't spend my money on Eric Reed. He came home second and all of my multi-race tickets were out...but I could show you a list of dozens and dozens of times where I am PLUS from that strategy. My list burns me sometimes but I am certainly on the positive side in the long run. |

![]() Round Pen,
You seem to know about Preachin Man as compared to others in the trainer's barn. Do you believe he is stakes quality? I love the way he looks. I would like to see him run agaist the horse you've indicated is better. How much better is he? |

As far as PM I know the brothers (Mckathan that is) have been very high on him for quite awhile I believe if memory serves me right that PM was around a $35k yearling at kee Sept. I have not spoke to anyone today but I would think if PM came out of the race ok they would probably run him back Derby Day. Name of race escapes me but it is a stake for 2 year olds going 5f. ![]() That could make an interesting match-up between Sea of Pleasure, who has as big of a repute as any raced 2yo on the West Coast, has ever had in April. And the Wesley Ward 2yo filly that sells tomorrow.

There must not have been any interest in him at the Ocala Feb Two Year Old Sale. They would not have withdrawn him if there was a lot of interest being shown in him. His conformation must have turned people off. There was nothing wrong with his workout at the sale. He worked fast and he moved well. I liked the work. I bet on him first-time out. I don't think they'll have any problem selling him now. They can probably get somewhere between $100,000-$200,000 for him if he passes the vet. With regard to the Hold That Tiger filly, I thought she moved alright but she was on her left lead in both workouts. I don't like horses who are on their wrong lead. I've found that a very high percentage of horses that are on their wrong lead at the sale, also run on their wrong lead once they start racing. Sure there have been a few great horses who run on their left lead, but very few. In the last 5 years, I can't think of one good horse that runs on his left lead. There may be one or two that are slipping my mind, but there aren't many. I certainly would not buy a horse that is on their left lead at the sale. |

![]() Maybe Baffert just doesn't always pick the right ones. He may have missed him. I think those guys throw some beers back together. They may have partied too hard and missed out.
