Default I sincerely hope...

That Dominican wins the derby by 5+ lengths just to piss everyone off.

I won't be betting him, but I would be laughing from the 1/4 pole in if that happened and wouldn't be pissed off about losing.

I wonder what all of the turf writers would say in the Sunday columns then?

I sincerely hope...

that a horse like CQ doesn't win off an 8 week layoff....and curlin doesn't win off 3 career starts...

no need to reinforce these alarming and crappy trends of not running horses

So you're not looking forward to my concept of the future of training which is to just train them up to the derby?

I hope Curlin wins the derby and then tests positive after the race and the national media milks the story for all it's worth.

That's my feeling, too, though I feel stronger about the 8-week layoff than the 3 career starts. (I may be influenced by my rather large bet on "All others" in KDFW Pool 1 to root for Curlin!)

If CQ or Hard Spun wins, then we know what to expect next year. And it will be awful.

I don't think a Curlin victory would be that bad, especially if it was a close race with a layoff horse finishing second. In that event, I think the "run them as little as possible" trainers might have to rethink the strategy.

Remember that Dominican was gelded last year. And since his gelding he is on fire. He also was 3rd beind Tiz Wonderful (who would demolish this Derby field) and Any Given Saturday and he finished 4th 1/ 2 length behind Street Sense in the Washington. If I remember correctly that day the track was muddy and Dominican stumbled at the start. He has some legitimacy on dirt. I think he has a reasonable shot on Derby day.

I'm sure it's gotta be painful but it's been a few months since that's happened. Maybe they should get him checked out.

Really. How does somebody who's an occasional contributor on basketball all of a sudden become a source on every sport? I find the guy obnoxious personally.

He was a guest on Larry King last week when the Imus-Sharpton-Kill Whitey deal was going on. Why? Because he's angry, that's why.

That's why his show was cancelled.
He should stick to writing articles for the Inky on why the Sixers are so bad.

Glad to know he was cancelled. I'm always watching Sportscenter or a game when it was on. Thanks for the info.

I bet Dominican last weekend simply because of his prowess on poly...though I think he's gotten pretty good, I wouldn't bet a good turf horse in the Derby and I won't bet him either.
