You mean justice delayed once again....why on earth would the Georgia State Attorney General file an appeal keeping this poor young man in jail???? He was 17yo and had consensual sex with a 15yo girl and got 10 years??? Then they changed the law but didn't make it retroactive.
Who exactly is the State AG representing here? How many teenagers have sex in this country every day? I heard about this over the weekend and couldn't believe it! And they wanted him listed for life as a sexual predator...wonder what was behind this witchhunt?

I can't imagine that the Georgia State Attorney would file an appeal. That would be almost like political suicide. This case bothers me on so many levels. I just hope this kid can make some money from this.

According to the story and other sources, the appeal has been filed and he remains in prison. Keep in mind there were two girls at the party who were videotaped, a 17 yo who had intercourse with several of the boys (unsure whether with Mr Wilson) and the 15yo who willingly had oral sex with Mr Wilson and several others in a row...the 15yo was not drunk, said afterwards that she enjoyed the act and her mother said she was free to have sex with anyone she wanted. Under Ga law at the time, oral sex resulted in a felony charge while intercourse did not (?????). This boy had a 3.2 GPA, was a football and track star, homecoming king, and by all reports a great kid...he attends a New Year's Eve party has a few drinks and some smoke perhaps and accepts an invitation from a sexually active and willing girl to get a blow job and he gets 10 years in prison???? This is why I raise my voice when I see justice raped and turned to "setting an example". The jury in this case felt they had no choice under the law but why on earth was this case prsecuted in the first place?

Oh yeah...had he been convicted of having intercourse with her, the max term would have been one year! The small town GA prosecutor offered him a deal, plead and get 5 years...some deal! His attitude, the boy decided to "roll the dice" and go to trial so he got what he deserved.

Well I hope that the AG loses the appeal. This case is so disturbing. Is there a chance of bond?

CNN is reporting that his attorneys are attempting to secure bond so he can be released pending appeal!

David McDade? The county prosecutor? I don't care what party he belongs to I want to know how he sleeps at night? Another case of pandering to the public's bloodlust, I think the 15yo may have been white (not sure)...

Yeah, I don't care what party or race...wrong is wrong! The AG may be forced to file an appeal by state law, I don't know. What I do know is that McDade used this case for self-benefit, he's got a good rep in Georgia..DA of the year in 2005, 12 straight death penalty convictions..yippie! This is a travesty of justice and goes back to trying to legislate morality...go figure, one year for intercourse, ten years for oral sex??? Tried to say the 17yo was raped when the video tape clearly showed differently, the 15yo went from guy to guy...has repeatedly maintained that she did NOT use drugs/alcohol that night, did what she did cause she wanted to and enjoyed it...we can discuss parenting issues of the 15yo's mother perhaps but to lock up this kid for 10 years...unbelievable!

Well, I did those things at 16, my former brother-in-law was arrested in Florida at 17 for having sex with a girl on stage during a ZZ Top concert...not sure if those things are more meaningful than your son's purity...I suspect neither enter into this argument. I think you are wrong about 15 year old girls...many kids have sex much younger, this boy admits having sex at 13...should the girl have gone to jail for ten years if she happened to be 16? Laws to protect children from sexual preditors are absolutely necessary but the guy who drafted the original law (since repealed by the way) said it was never his intent to persecute teens.

If a 17 year old has sex with a 15 year old girl in front of a dozen other people, he deserves to get prosecuted. And I'm far from as naive as you seem to suggest. There is a way to be a responsible person and a 17 year old having public sex with a 15 year old girl doesn't fit.

My god, the boy was 17, there is no way to be sure that he was any more "mature" than the 15yo girl...2 years!!?? This young lady has been outspoken, along with her mother, that she was quite sexually experienced. We need laws to protect children, not persecute them! She admits that she instigated the encounter...to me, this entire thing is absurd.
