Probably the most difficult day so far. I don't think Yeats is 'bombproof' today, even though his odds suggest he is. I really like Sergeant Cecil today. The race will be much more of a stamina test than last year and i don't think that will suit Yeats. This may sound strange, but i think he has TOO MUCH class for this sort of race over 20furlongs! Would love to see him race back over 12furllongs again, because he still has the speed to do so.

I'd be most Confident about Artimino today, and in a huge field, that statement really says it all. Going to be very difficult today, i think.

I hope Dalvina shows her true form back on a faster surface. I still have faith in her.

Good Luck, everyone

Although I didn't include him in my contest picks I'd love to see Red Rock Canyon win today. His breeding is incredible! Hasn't lived up to it yet but I hope he'll make the first step towards doing so today.

I see that both Drawnfromthepast and Kingsgate Native are out of the Norfolk. Would have been nice to see one or both of them back up after the Windsor Castle, but I guess 2 days is just too soon after what was a very tough race on the first day.

yeah, the 5 that ran on Tuesday are NRs.. Kingsgate was very impressive for a debutant and is one to keep an eye on throughout the season..

regarding today, Mark Johnston has had a quiet festival so far but has alot of fancied horses..

Winker Watson
Art Advisor
Spirit Of Sharjah

Really impressive performance by Winker Watson, made a spectacular move up to the lead before hanging badly and being headed, but then straightened and kicked away again to win clearly.

Silkwood
All My Loving
Dalvina

It was a slow pace set by Majounes Song, and when the field turned for home most of the field was left flat footed by the sudden increase in speed. But not Silkwood. She quickly reached top gear, ran down the tiring leader and ran away for a 5 length win.

All My Loving and Dalvina took an age to accelerate, did eventually run on but from about 2 furlongs out they were running for second place. Baroness Richter produced an eye-catching finish from nowhere for fourth.

Philip Robinson just said that he thinks Silkwood would have won the Oaks if she had run in it. Looks like an exciting filly.

Gold Cup up next!

We're getting the BBC feed about 90% of the time, but the fashion bits are being interrupted by a couple of guys in a studio here talking about the odds in this part of the world for the next race.

Back with BBC already for the Gold Cup now.

Yeats
Geordieland
Le Miracle

Magnificent performance by Yeats to get his second Gold Cup in a row. He was ridden perfectly and kicked 2 clear in the straight, but Geordieland suddenly appeared with an amazing run from last and looked like he was going to go right past. Yeats fought back so strongly though, a very well-deserved win by just over a length with a much larger distance back to Le Miracle.

Oh no! Hope he's okay.

Where was Cherry?

Surprised the boys in blue swerved the Milan race..... made me think he must have been looking awfully good...

Happy for AOB and Yeats.

Cherry Mix was a doubtful stayer to begin with, but never settled at all for Frankie so had no chance really.. He better pack his suitcase and start travelling again..

Kinane believes Yeats can come back and make it three in 12 months. That would be a stunning achievement. Kinane's lack of emotion in winning these huge races always surprises me!

Surprised that Yeats is a 6yo and he's only had 15 starts - has he had some injury problems?

Eddie Jock
Ea
St Philip

Eddie Jock was on the pace throughout the race and held on tenaciously from St Philip and Ea, the latter came from a mile back right down the outside and looked likely to win but possibly came to the end of his run in the last furlong, still an outstanding run though.

Eddie Jock was just too strong and really deserved this upset win. Artimino ran on OK, finished fourth.

And apparently that was the highest weight ever carried to win the Britannia Stakes, he was clear top weight in the race. Excellent performance.

4th post in a row, feel like a bit of a spammer!

Zaham
Al Shemali
Desert Dew

A thrilling finish. There was a head between first and second, a neck back to third and a head to fourth. So there were really four horses in a line at the finish.

Kid Mambo led all the way, was tackled by Zaham and Desert Dew at the 1 furlong mark but fought back strongly before just conceding to those two runners and Al Shemali, who absolutely flew the last furlong down the outside.
