Surprising to see that Mi Emma is now the favourite here.

This is probably the race I've been looking forward to more than any other race this week, should be great.

Indian Ink
Mi Emma
Darjina

Not only did she win, she absolutely killed them! About six lengths at the line. Stunning. Mi Emma and Darjina both ran well but never had a hope once Indian Ink hit top gear.

Finsceal Beo was never comfortable with the ground, forget she ran.

I'm speechless.

Oh damn, I used her as an alt in the contest.

Must now go and smack myself!

Thanks for the updates! Happy to hear Yellowstone got up for a piece of it.

Bummer, hopefully Finsceal comes back ok.

Congrats to the Indian Ink supporters!

Ground must be soft for Indian Ink to win that easily. Seems to get soft very quickly at Ascot these days.

Back to Lucarno, the Derby form is already looking suspect for me. Thought he'd win today, but took him on because of the price. The Derby fourth gets beaten easily by a Hamilton winner last time out....... Our Derby is begining to look quite bad.

Ground against Mahler now, i reckon.

Lump on Pride Of Nation in the last!

It's an international trend really for the mile and a half 3yo races.

Only 1 of the last 3 NZ Derby winners has won another race (that being the wonderful Xcellent), the record of VRC Derby winners in recent times is even worse with the exception of Elvstroem, and with the likes of Jazil in last year's Belmont Stakes things aren't looking terribly healthy there either (although I'm certainly hoping Rags To Riches will prove me wrong).

Interesting to note that the G2 Great Northern Guineas over the equivalent of 1m 2f has been a much better race than our Derby in the last two years...both winners (Sculptor and Santagostino) have gone on to win in decent company in Australia since winning it.

She will!

You could guess that Afleet Alex, had he not gotten hurt, would have as well.

Yeah fair point.

The Wolferton:

Championship Point
Heaven Sent
Charlie Cool

Huge run right down the outside by Championship Point to just run down Heaven Sent in the final strides. A decent gap back to Charlie Cool in third. Favourite Emirates Skyline was 5th but only about a neck away from Charlie Cool.

Good to see the Derby contender of last year in Championship Point regain some form.

Is Heaven Sent little like her sister?

She is! Almost disappeared when Championship Point moved up beside her.

Thrilled for Heaven Sent.

Were there any scratches in that race? Thanks.

edit - Crap, never mind. All my alts are doing better than my picks.

Mahler
Veracity
Secret Tune

They didn't sound confident about him before the race but he's won it by 4. This has been a performance of a very promising stayer, carrying the same colours as Yeats. Unlikely to ever be anywhere near as good as his stablemate, because this was a performance that displayed much more in the way of stamina than class, but it looks to me like he'll be competitive in some of the same races.

Veracity and Secret Tune both stayed well, while Serengeti ran a game race on what was obviously unsuitable ground.

when I saw Mahler earlier on this year, the saying "he stays longer than the mother in law" certainly applied. No distance is too long for him... a nice prospect...he saved my day...

Pride of Nation looks unbelievably short at 7-2.. wouldnt be going near that at the price but could easily hose up.. With the results on offer today I'd love to see an old favourite (and former G1 winner!!!) Bahamian Pirate win it...

Binanti
Fajr
Dabbers Ridge

The winner was leaning on the runner-up throughout the last furlong and won by about a length - apparently the siren has sounded. I'm not going to be sticking around to find out the result of the enquiry though.

Night!
