Default Carter to blame for this mess!

Naive and foolish, Mr. Carter was, and continues his sad plea for "relativity" in these days!

Awwwwww! Jeesh timm!
Carter is responsible for Iran? Khomeini?????
Timm, my good buddy, do you know who supported the Shah rright to the bitter end, the same guy that gave him special entry to the US so he could have cancer treatments? The guy that fanned the flames in the Islamic world and then resigned in disgrace, just like his vice president Agnew?
Before I tell you the answer, so you don't have to google it, I'll remind you that Carter, despite his many faults, won the Nobel Peace prize for the "Camp David Accords". That agreement lasted for quite a while, before tensions arose in Israel after the assasiniation and was replaced by beligerants, as was the guy that set the stage......
and his name:
NIXON!!!

Go Republicans! Go!!

Carter supposed that a theology based govt would work, rather than the Shah. Carters own people said the same thing,as well as many former collegues and constituents! Carter "begged" for that Peace Prize...as if it was the coronation of his crazy and misguided notions! I had forgetten your dislike of Nixon...but it plays out now. It's as plain as day...read the article.

Timm,
I read the article you linked. I'll go back and reread it to see if I missed anything. Blaming Carter doesn't pass the "smell" test, anymore than blaming
the invasion of Iraq on any other than the "decider" does.
In the meanwhile, read this one. It's about a president that skirted law and hid facts from congress, so that he and his buddies could supply arms to the theocracy in Iran.

Your link says that there was no evidence to link the President, so why do you continue on as if it is fact? So much license taken in your "collage" of History! Really

Timm,
My guess is that you missed this, and yes, Reagan and Bush S, though implicated, weren't found "guilty".
"Higher administration officials, particularly Reagan, Vice President Bush, and William J. Casey (former director of the CIA, who died in May, 1987), were implicated in some testimony, but the extent of their involvement remained unclear."
Timm, do tell, exactly what crimes was Carter implicated for?
History? Read about it. You might learn something. Really!

Nuance and misdirection are YOUR pals, not mine! You do remember the law reads...beyond a reasonable doubt? Why is everything so Clandestine with you?
Carter pissed off the whole of Washington BEFORE his inauguaration speech was wtritten! Crimes, probably not ...but don't forget his best friend Bert Jance and the other officials in Carters Admin that were trounced and forced to resign. His misunderstanding of the Middle East set the stage for the Theocratic Regime we see in Iran today. The rest is History.

Timm,
You put the blame on Carter. Fine but delusional.
It goes back much further.
Nixon, huh? Reagan more?
So many to blame, it boggles the mind, Timm. BOGGLES what little remains of it.

No, I'm quite certain it was clinton. It had to be. It clearly states in the bible he is the root of all evil.

On a related note, as soon as I saw the title of the thread, I knew who started it.

On another related note, I just finished reading Reading 'Lolita' in Tehran, which I highly recommend. Large sections of it take place during the Revolution and I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know before- like that it wasn't as simple as the religious right took over- in fact, the Shah was overthrown and then there was a real struggle between the secularists and the religious over control, with religion winning out. Interesting stuff. And made me want to reread The Great Gatsby.

Lots of conservatives blame Carter. I do too, at least since I saw Fox report Carter stole the Lindbergh baby.

Only because, seeing as how Clinton wasn't born yet, they couldn't really blame it on him. The Edsel, however, all WJC's fault...

S2S,
That's funny.
My guess is that the bashing Carter gets is because he asked for and was granted a Federal Law entitled "The Ethics in Government Act" (1978).
That law is still on the books, and will be used to bring down the junta.
Did you see the latest about Gonzo? He gets his allegience cause he got the Chimp-in-chief from serving jury duty in 1998 on a drunk driving case, just so the mad monkey's own drunk driving conviction wouldn't be revealed.
There's still hope though. Last I heard, Darth Dick came out of his heart surgery ok (they think they found one), and he's shopping for sock puppets on e-bay. Gonzo is predicted to resign during the recess, and, of course a new AG will be a "recess appointment".
While all the while, our brave young men and women are dying to support this? Not funny!
Do elephants poop in the jungle? Do they die in the desert?
