It's great to see Borel so fired up from the time he crossed the finish line to the winners circle. What a great moment at the Spa. Good for Street Sense and all of his connections. Next stop is the Travers!!

I agree. That was a nice ride, relaxed him but kept him close, didn't allow himself to get bottled, then when he asked for the switch to the right lead at the top of the stretch, it was all over. Two bumps from CP West (tired) coming out was no factor. If SS comes out sound, and no reason to think otherwise, the Travers is a lock. Congrats to Carl N and all the connects

Yea I was so glad for the whole crew. Big Congrats. Did everyone catch Calvin saying Street was pissed after the last work cause he couldnt go faster?hehe And CP West ran a nice race for 2nd.

I'm a Street Sense fan, but wow, CP West ran a huge race on the lead. Never gave up, even when headed. He's coming into his own for fall. Hope he comes out of this fine.

Reminds me of one of Came Home's other 3-year-olds, a nice little allowance filly ...

i see riot and i think the same about those came homes. i'll wish well of them all now, as any good efforts help the whole family!

how refreshing to see a derby winner run past the spring classics. perhaps a sign of things to come, maybe sooner or later they'll start running at four as well!

wonder tho about curlin...padua making the move to ky, their exchange rate leaving fla for a ky farm....can't help thinking their classic winner (and yes, i know they are part owner) will soon be named as heading to the same farm as the grey son of danzig, and join his own sire as well.

It's terrific. Does anybody know how the Saratoga attendance was today compared to previous years?

If only they would show more racing on national TV, they would indeed gain a wider audience as people could follow particular horses. That means more people going to the track to see their stars in person. The racing industry has always seemed to shoot itself in the foot, never noticing how being the national sport slipped away via neglect over the years. Horse racing never pursued TV aggressively, and now it's virtually gone from even newspapers ....

Super high. It was busier today than I could ever remember for a non-Travers day (and those that were there all weekend said it was even busier on Super Saturday.)

Was awesome to see SS do his thing again. Man I love that horse!

I was a HUGE Came Home fan. It is so awesome to see CP West perform so well. I thought he might get it done for a moment. I look forward to this horses maturity for the fall and maybe into the 08 season.

Street Sense looked perfect. Carl couldnt have asked for anything else from the horse today. Borel just sat there on the rail and waited until an opening appeared (inside or outside) and made his move. It was good to see SS switch leads and not lug in so much.

I was looking for something a little better out of Tiz Wonderful. But maybe this is what Asmussen wanted. The horse looked dead tired crossing the finish line and I guess that was to be expected. But I didnt see the burst of speed that I thought he would show. I hope he is OK and is being considered for the Travers.

Attendance today 46,876 per bris

Other days so far starting with Wed 30,052, 31,971, 18, 795 (so much for twilight racing), 29,216 (Whitney)

I would say they came out to gaze at the stars!!

Not sure if that's giveaway-adjusted (no spinners this year, if you wanted multiple giveaways you just went to a window and paid GA price for them).

Still think Twilight should be a success, surprised by that number.

I was getting worried there for a minute ... that was a loooong few seconds wait! His coolness had to be rooted in absolute confidence in what Street Sense had left.

It is great when the stars of the game stick around and race past the triple crown!! however, does anyone think maybe calvin should try going to the left handed whip some? seems like SS enjoys getting in on a pretty regular basis. just curious what others think.

I will say I was a little surprised to see him lug in a bit on CP West as he was passing him, but then Borel got him straight. The only thing I can say about the lug in is maybe it's just that he hasn't raced in awhile???? Who knows, but either way I am kicking myself a little for not going over to watch. It was cool on TV, but it must have been great to be there. I doubt I'll go Travers Day either. That could be a record crowd.

ESPN, you know, the world wide leader in sports, is too busy showing poker, fishing, and/or cheerleading. Not showing races nationally showing stars like SS is in my opinion one of the dumbest things the sport can do. But hey, not much we fans can do about. Seriously though, who is in charge of getting these races on national TV? Is it that difficult? Has Horse Racing fallen so much that we can't see a kentucky derby winner on national TV? Simply unbelievable!!!

i think something is wrong with his left arm. but seriously, he's been lucky at least twice now not to get DQ'd. doesn't he know that street sense is a rail seeker?

great that Street Sense is still racing and all, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the performance. Lawyer Ron would have kicked his ass.

Borel on Street Sense always looks to me like he's one-hole-not-opening-at-the-last-instant away from disaster.

i didn't say he should've been DQ'd. i said he was lucky not to have been DQ'd. to be more specific, he was very very close to causing a foul....yes, in the derby and yesterday in the dandy.

he's either reckless or not very bright. he should know that street sense starts looking for the rail as soon as he gets by a horse (especially when being whipped right-handed). and yet he continues to whip him right handed.
