Default Majestic Warrior rises to the top

He wins the Hopeful going away. He looks like a contender, not a pretender, at 3.

It was just a 4 horse field. It's too early to say who's a contender next year.

I think the other 3 are pretenders.

that race really fell apart, he might get better with distance but this win was hardly inspiring.

That $ 4.6 million isn't looking quite as great as it did a few weeks ago.

I agree. If I am spending 4.6 million, the horse better be able to go 46 while sleeping

People often seem very quick to begin talking about a nice 2yos campaign as a 3yo months before it even begins. I understand it to some degree, given people's obsession with the TC, but what is wrong with watching the rest of his 2yo campaign first? He looked pretty good today and looks like a very serious candidate for the BCJ, and perhaps the eclipse award for top 2yo. Speculating beyond that at this point seems...well...a bit too speculative.

i'm impressed that an ap indy won this race, his usually take a bit of time to come to hand. he's one to watch for certain. heck, the other two are as well--one loss doesn't make either of them a stinker.

but like i read from cot cambpell, if you pay an extra three mill for a horse, it just means you paid more--doesn't mean that the horse is faster. not an exact quote, but that's the gist of what he said.

Really? I didn't think this race fell apart at all, more that Majestic Warrior went and got Ready's Image.

There was a four race break between the prior dirt race and a lot can happen in that amount of time, but the first three dirt races were all speed. In fact, horses trying to close couldn't gain an inch. Majestic Warrior put together a very fast final 3/8s to run down the loose leaders and the 2YOs ended up running an identical time to the older allowance horses in Race 4. The older horses also went faster to the half.

This horse will get better with distance and I think the effort was definitely inspiring.

NT you put into words what my eyeballs told me. Majestic Warrior came from way back before he launched his stretch long run. He just down right beat the 2 high priced sprinters.

I do have a question. Bloodhorse says Majestic Warrior was a $300k yearling purchase. How can this be when Kinsman Stable bred the horse and now owns the horse ? Are they just listing the stud fee if a home-bred is sired by a stallion off the farm ?

did they sell him at some point, and then buy him back when he was a yearling? or maybe sold the dam when she was carrying him?

he may well get better with distance but compared to say Afleet Alex a couple years back I dont think this was anything special.

readys image came home in 13 3/5ths! just about any stake horse is going to get run down sprinting in that case. The winner may well be a good horse as time and distance increase as he flew home but the bottom line is he would have been a suck up second had readys image not come to a crawl.

I think it's tough to say Afleet Alex's 2004 performance was much better than Majestic Warrior's, unless you want to chalk it up to how green AA was in the stretch.

The bottom line is that while Ready's Image was clear at the eighth pole, Majestic Warrior blew right by him. They went the 7/8ths in an identical time to older horses earlier on the card and the 2YOs did it with a slower pace.

In my opinion, it was an excellent performance from a horse who looks like he will be very comfortable with the mile of the Champagne and mile and a sixteenth of the BC Juvenile.

The Beyer number, by the way, was 95.

the hype is not going to matchup to the performance.

from a pace dynamics this race was ok, the filly who won earlier on the card for dutrow ran a better race.
