Default Obscenely Named TBs

Entertaining article from Slate on why you can't give a TB an obscene name and a lot of names that slipped through the, ahem, cracks.

A horse named Big Tits, creeped through the net and was allowed to race in France.

This is what somone from Weatherbys told me one day a few years back.

Years ago, JT Lundy and some of the Calumet people used to try and slide a few by The Jockey Club. They started using acronyms and I remember one, and the story that went along with it -- SOMFAS

Anyone remember what it stood for?

Who can forget...

A career maiden (0-for-25 lifetime) named Oh She Hit. She raced at Charles Town earlier in the decade.

The track announcer always had a bit of a difficult time with her name.

We had a horse named Soft Hit running at River this past summer. Each time i got to her in the field, i would slow down and pronounce each word of the name slowly, because if i said it fast........you get the picture.

For the record, they're two different horses.

Bodacious Tatas was a pretty good horse for Ceasar Kimmel and trained by John Kimmel. Ceasar also had a horse once named Peony's Envoy.

Also didn't Pegram own Isitingood

For An Occasion is a name that also needs careful, slow enunciation

Hall Lass and One Strike No Balls were two of my favorites. Luke had a hilarious call at Churchill when Hall Lass raced one time. He said it as many times as possible and it was very obvious he did it on purpose.

In all seriousness. I can't wait to see the names they come up with for Rock Hard Ten's babies...
