Default Best Broodmare

Since I am just getting into breeding, and was thinking about it, I came up with a fun topic.

Who was (is) the best broodmare ever? Not just who gave birth to the best horse, but as in general what mare has had the best racers?

So far Toussaud comes to mind for me. Are there any others out there? We always talk about who are the best sires. Lets talk about mommas for a change.

What a nice mare! That is a good one. Two triple crown races from her offspring. Sad that she died.

Here is a list of all the mares named Kentucky's "Broodmare of the year". This might help you narrow it down.

Let's end the silliness here ...

... the best broodmare ever was Mumtaz Mahal ... second was La Troienne ... the rest ... nowhere.

Sorry, Buffy ... you missed the point.

This is a great topic ... the silliness occurs when anyone mentions a broodmare whose name isn't Mumtaz Mahal or La Troienne.

I haven't followed the breeding aspect that much. Just now beginning to learn slowly. Just thinking of horses that I knew of.

You'll learn a lot faster if you pay very close attention to my posts.

For example ... see if you can figure out the meaning of my last response to Kasept.

Besides Mumtaz Mahal, I'd include Miss Disco, the dam of Bold Ruler and another mare named Geisha, the dam of Native Dancer.
