Default Premium Tap wins in Saudi Arabia, doubles lifetime earnings

Just kidding about that last part. But they did give him a golden hoof pick.

The sad thing is this horse would have been a threat to Curlin and is probably the best active horse on the planet.

I don't think anyone noticed his absence from the BC Classic field. It's not like Curlin was facing chopped liver in there. Weren't they saying it was one of the best fields ever assembled?

Sounds like Premium Tap's pointing to next year's Dubai World Cup, too. If he remained in America, he'd probably be retired by now (particularly if John Kimmel kept him).

I'll still maintain even after the BC Classic that the second best route race of the year was run by Premium Tap in the Dubai World Cup. It's too bad they never produced a Beyer for that race.

I don't know if it was so much the 2nd best route race as the worst ride of the year by Kent Desormeaux.

I still can't believe he actually let Invasor draw on even terms with Premium Tap at the head of the stretch without putting his mount under a drive. Instead, he kept looking under his left shoulder...presumably for a hopelessly beaten Discreet Cat. As if Invasor wasn't enough to handle...

The way Premium Tap remained on the bit down the lane suggests he might have given Invasor a fight had Kent D. tried to break the race open instead of waiting on competition.

I guess it still pales in comparison to the 2006 Kentucky Cup Classic, though...

Haven't watched this recently but wasn't Jara looking over his shoulder even worse down the stretch like Premium Tap was already 20 lengths behind him?

No one miss Premium Tap because no one mentioned him. He was my second choice last year in the Classic and ran third. No disgrace. he sure would have been a contender in the older horse division this year as LR is essentially the only competition and he buried LR last year.
