Proud Tower Too.....

UAE press...

Tendon problem ends career of Proud Tower Too

Plucky Proud Tower Too, who defeated eventual champion American sprinter Thor’s Echo to win the 2006 Dubai Golden Shaheen (Gr.1), has been retired after re-injuring a problematic tendon.

Stud plans for the five-year-old son of Proud Irish out of the Irish Tower mare Dora’s Tower are not yet complete, but it appears likely that he will stand in California, where he first stepped into the spotlight by capturing the 2005 Malibu Stakes (Gr.1) at Santa Anita Park. He also conquered Thor’s Echo in that race.

Owned and bred by Daniel Cardenas’s Tricar Stable, Proud Tower Too initially experienced tendon problems in March, when he was preparing to return to Dubai to defend his title in the Golden Shaheen. Given time off, he was put back in training this fall, but after a timed workout, trainer Sal Gonzalez found filling in the tendon again.

A winner as a juvenile, Proud Tower Too also won the Sensational Star Handicap at Santa Anita and the On Trust Handicap at Hollywood Park, closing his career with a second by a neck to Latent Heat in the San Carlos Handicap (Gr.2) last February.

From HP stable notes.....

I love this one. Happy retirement.

DANCING EDIE RETIRED, SOLD

Dancing Edie, a 5-year-old California-bred mare with a Grade I stakes victory and $782,535 in earnings, has been retired and sold, co-breeder and co-owner Steve Warner reported Thursday.

"She will be going to Kentucky in a few days to be bred and then go to Shadai Farm in Japan," said Warner, who breeds and races under the nom de course Fast Lane Farms.

Dancing Edie, named after Warner's mother-in-law, Edie Fischer, won four races and was second seven times in 21 starts. She highlighted her career with a victory in the Grade I John C. Mabee Handicap in 2006 at Del Mar. She was second in two other Grade I stakes - the 2006 Yellow Ribbon behind champion Wait a While and the 2007 Mabee behind Precious Kitten - and was third in the 2005 Del Mar Oaks, another Grade I.

"It will be sad to see her go," said trainer Craig Dollase, who conditioned her in her last 15 starts. Dancing Edie is by Moscow Ballet out of the Slewpy mare Duchess of Ack. J. Paul Reddam was the majority owner in a partnership. She made her last start with a sixth-place finish in the California Cup Distaff Handicap at Santa Anita on Nov. 3.

The ripple effects from the retirements of Saint Anddan and Mustanfar could devastate an already reeling game.

I knew you'd be upset and I almost didn't post the Mustanfar retirement for that reason, but for the sake of updating.....

I'm not sure which is more tiresome......the announcements of retirements of non-players in the game or my absurd need to constantly joke about it.

Probably a dead heat.

Mustanfar's impending absense has spoiled my night. I always looked forward to his off the board finishes in a few marathons every year. And to think, this was the year he could have run 6th a few times for more money and on major stages.

I like to know who is still running and who isn't... that's why I update it.

My favorites are the older ones.

I can understand that not everyone wants to know or cares but I do.

Another positive about this thread is it gives you a chance to write posts such as this one.....

I mean, it's not as if people don't know what this thread is all about. Sure, it's not for everybody, but is there any need to slate it?

You obviously don't like it. Simple solution...... don't respond to it.

I for one enjoy reading the retirements of all the horses, both good and bad ones. Even the bad ones deserve a mention.

What is mmsc actually doing wrong?

Oh relax and stop scurrying to her unnecessary defense. I'm just having fun and she knows it.
