That's actually kind of surprising to be honest. Honestly, I think Rick is as good a trainer as there is in the business and I couldn't be happier to see him reemerging in the game. Ten to fifteen years ago he was a major player in the NY curcuit who was absolutely lethal with first time starters. Yet, somehow after training such good horses as Maria's Mon, As Indicated and Mossflower he seemed to drop off the map. Yeah, he still won, but not as frequently and rarely did he have good horses. I was really worried that he would be yet another undeserving victim of the massive stables that dominate the game now. His strong year in 2007, that seems to be continuing into the new year, is a bright spot....at least for me. I wish him continued and great success. He deserves it. |
