Real Quiet hasn't really been a bad sire at all - but he's standing for 5K in Pennsylvania last I heard.
The 3rd place finisher from the '98 Derby - Indian Charlie - clearly turned out to be a success at stud. Ever since his foals starting hitting the track - a certain poster here has made a big effort to show me how utterly crap infested his book of mares are each and every year. He really has consistantly done a very good job at getting some runners every crop. |

Consider that he had huge physical issues and is also a wobbler, he's probably one of the 2-3 greatest talents I've ever seen run. It was OBVIOUS he was going to be a good stud. |

He better make runners,or he will become Sis Kebobi(Shish Kebob.)Making pokeys will result in him being a "missing" horse.Sometimes things just get lost..o.k? This can happen anywhere.
As far as Turkish racing goes, they race a little more Arabians than Thoroughbreds(they call them English.)Far as I can tell, they do allow betting. The country(as a whole) is slowly slipping from Secular to Islamic(as far as laws go.) So,hurry to make your bets. They once had casinos, but for some reason(almost overnight) that stopped. That's the type of country it is.Probably most people there don't know they have horse betting there. If they find out, don't be surprised if they ban it quickly. In 1983 the Turkish government granted permission to first-class holiday villages and five star hotels to open casinos on their properties. At the peak there were more than 80 casinos in Turkey in tourist facilities located in Antalya, Izmir, Istanbul and Ankara. In 1997 more than 14 billion US dollars were wagered in Turkey's casinos surpassing gambling income in many European countries. Turkish parliament voted, however, on August 8, 1997 to close all casinos within six months. Even after the Islamic government was replaced by a secular, center-right administration the parliamentary vote to close them overrode a veto by the than President Suleyman Demirel. From mid-February 16, 1998 the government decree closing the casinos went into effect putting an estimated 20,000 people out of their jobs. |

I don't understand....if Victory Gallop is in danger by being in Turkey if he doesn't perform, then shouldn't they just keep him here?

VG is one my favorite horses. This horse had one helluva turn of foot. Just see him in The stephen foster in 1999 and you will see.
I think he will enhance turkish racing like sunday silence did to Japan Racing India will probably be next in the US horse aquisition. |

This is a curious move in that VG sired Anak Nakal, a leading conteneder for this year's KY Derby. I'll certainly pull for this Zito runner now, as a win in Louisville would undoubtedly earn VG a one-way ticket back to this country.

Start mixing in some Hummus and Babaganoush (both with extra garlic) into Victory Gallop's oats.
That steed will soon be more potent than imaginable. |

He will probably enjoy the Turkish mares, and their mating process is much simpler there. They will submit to him.

Doug Cauthen (WinStar manager) said that VG was a solid stallion but didn't sire yearlings that could make $100K at the sales. He had become a <gasp> breed to race sire, not a breed to sell one. So when the Turkish offer came around, the syndicate snapped it up.

Almost makes Anak Nakal a lock in the KY Derby. It seems everytime a stallion is exported, he suddenly jumps up with a big horse.
