Default HD

Finally went HD and wonder what races, if any, are actually aired in HD. I figure the Derby is, but are there any more?

I don't have HD but hang out with someone who does, and watch races there a lot. I don't think I have seen anything in HD....we thought the BC might be this past fall but it wasn't. Maybe this year?

Having HD races would spur interest in the game and that is obviously not what the powers that be want.

I find it hard to believe the BC wasn't in HD.

The TC races are.....how could the BC not be?

if it was we didn't get it....though in the past few months the number of HD channels has nearly doubled.

please don't doubt me on this, I am an expert and my opinion will just go over your head.

I will assume that he has the correct cable hookup for HD.....but I'm surprised to hear this. Pretty much every sporting event ESPN does is in HD.

he does....you've seen that monstrosity.

thinking back it might have just been the friday races that weren't in HD....because they were on ESPN2 rather than the regular ESPN. But I feel like none of them were.....

I'm almost sure Steve and I watched a TIVO'd replay of the 2006 BC in HD on his huge screen. But, that was NBC. Still......I don't believe this.

ESPN2 just went HD after the first of the year in limited cable markets.

I was under the assumption that everything shown on ESPN HD channel was broadcasted in HD.. but the Sunshine Millions races that were on either ESPN or ESPN 2 HD channel were not broadcasted in HD. Hard to believe the BC races weren't in HD. Oh wait, we are talking about horse racing.... I take it the only races shown in HD are the TC races??

i dont believe tv quality can spur interest in a sport. people will either like horse racing or they won't.

You very well could be right.. but since I got my tv I'm watching events in HD that I never would watch before. If others do that with horse racing, they could get hooked pretty quickly. Anything to get new viewers would help, maybe not save it, but it wouldn't hurt.

Right. The post you were responding to is the kind of attitude that has helped bury racing in the dark ages.

The Breeders Cup has been in HD the past 3 years, I don't know about before that since I have only had HD for the last 3 years.
