![]() Girls gone wild. MMA beat down
of a cheerleader. A quote from one of the assailant's parents. Similar stuff from another interviewed: The victim’s parents have taken a similar line. “For whatever reason, this MySpace, my-you, this YouTube has gone too far,” said Talisa Lindsay, in an interview outside their home. “It’s just too much.” Her husband, Patrick, who stood beside her, went even further, declaring that Internet companies were to blame for what happened. “As far as I’m concerned,” he said, “MySpace is the Antichrist for children.” Internet to blame. Its the antiChrist. Any wonder their child is violent... Nahhh she is not responsible, the parents are not responsible. Lets blame something, anything. Total lack of personal responsibility that is a cancer in a democratic society. Could someone please slap these "parents" upside the head and then sterilize them. ![]() Please remember -- you can't wash stupid off!
And to make this story more curious -- Dr. Phil (you know TV pop psychologist doc) is involved now. One of his staff paid bail for alledged "ring leader". Doc has already issued statement that staffer overstepped authority or some other nonesense. As I always say, "you can't make this stuff up."

![]() you mean the dr phil who can't even practice in his home state of texas? lost his license due to 'improprieties with a patient'. i can't believe people still watch his show. or maybe they don't, which is why a staffer got involved. no such thing as bad pr.
as for the beatdown, i have no idea what the story is-and don't feel like looking it up either. |

It is a good little snap shot of society and illustrates beautifully the lack of personal responsibility that we turn to when something goes wrong. It was the jock's fault. If he had just... Take your beating and shut up. YOU made the bet. Last edited by pgardn : 04-13-2008 at 12:33 PM. |

The progress of the War is on every single day. There is an update, through military (some with harsh interrogation) everyday where? Since you got a gazillion channels. And who watches Fox anyway? The war is not going away anytime soon no matter who is elected. So once you get the time, and the right channel, You can keep us updated. |

I think he likes me. It is not news that Fox News puts a wonderful light on the War when things are going well, and then diverts when things are bad. And things are bad right now. So what did you expect? The war is not going so great since the "Iraqi Government's" little military foray. But that was not the subject of my post. I was looking for some sort of discussion about the lack of personal responsibility, that imo eats away at the fabric of our society. I did not get this story from Fox. NY times. And of course they had a video link. I see this as an example of a signficant shift that has been taking place for a good while now. I would like to know if I am imagining trends, and if I am not, why have we seen this trend. Ex. We got to go on field trips to all sorts of places when I was in school. We got to do some learning outside of the class. Teachers in my district are basically told, "dont go anywhere, the district is liable." Keep the kids inside in the class. Their parents will sue the crap out of us if anything happens. So as a consequence no more amusement park physics or anything like this anymore. No figuring acceleration of a roller coaster, etc... Nothing real outside class. This is only in my small world. Just wondering how widespread. And this little ordeal in the original post is an indication of the blame game that imo, is rot. And not helplful to the country as a whole. Sorry you have to work out in front of TV. Outside can be a nice place. |

![]() It really amazes me that girls of this age could do this, not the sick idea but the amount of damage, they are all like 90lbs soaking wet......it is even sicker that the girl that was getting pummeleed didn't just start throwing haymakers, because those girls would have stopped....grab something, a light, umbrella, throw the TV on the floor, do something that distracts them, kick out a window.....
This totally smells like a 'popular' school girl group and this girl that got hurt was trying to be friends with them. it is reasons like this that they cancelled our "powder puff" football games (where the Senior girls would take on the Junior girls) and stuff about two years after I was out of high school, it got way out of control. So much unchecked aggression... What is even worse is that my guess is that some of these parents think they have good hearted kids, and are probably good people, and they are on the hook from the lawsuit that will come down from it. If so, yeah, I'd say they might have took that whole powder puff football game thingy just a wee bit to far. Actually, if I remember the video, I didn't see much football being played. Just a bunch of paint, feces, urine, and a few baseball bats and paintball guns. One chick got choked out with a pig intestine... and there seemed to be keg stands going on just off to the right. Damn, those girls know how to party. |

![]() Random thought.
The world has obviously gotten more aggressive, and honestly, I think corporations have bred this into people with how cutthroat they have become. For years, safety in schools were never questioned. my freshman year, our big gym (we had three) was on fire for a while, roof fire, put out, all good. When I was a sophomore, three junior girls were killed when they got into the car with a guy that was drunk, this woke my high school up. The worst thing that happened my senior year at my school was a security guard falling from the 500 golf balls that myself and an accomplice threw down the stairs. I was 'safe' at my high school. Sure there were a couple brawls, but nothing insane where knifes or guns were pulled out. I am only out of high school 10 years ago and it is amazing how much things have changed. And I live in the posh suburbs of Chicago, where we have good schooling and good areas, we have the ability to do almost anything we want in our lives. I can only imagine what goes on in the high school in areas were the quality of life isn't as high, or the family structure isn't as strong. And the sick thing is, there is really no way to regulate this violence, the only way would be to have someone in every hallway, in every gym, because these kids can care less about a camera and in most cases, a teacher....And that is just not financially possible |

![]() i've heard big business get the blame for a lot of stuff....but the behavior of kids? i think it's a reach.
i think it's got more to do with rotten parenting than anything. parents want to be their kids best buddy instead of their parent. or are too busy, too tired, too whatever to even deal with their own child.

These kids have the worlds at their fingers, and their learning curve is ALOT faster now days. What 18 year olds knew 5 years ago, 16 year olds know now. And it will only get faster. I am all for sex education at 10-11 years old because you know what, it is starting then, it really is. I was lucky in that I had uncles that were only 10 years older then me when I was growing up and my parents were very upfront about alot of stuff, but alot of parents are not that way. I don't think I had a sex education class until I was 17 in high school, I was already on my 2nd or 3rd girl by then (trying to make a point, not boost the ego) Do you realize that 'cheating on your girlfriend' is now popular in high school? This didn't start happening until college for my age level, but now, it is popular within sophomore and junior aged kids.... |
