Will you look at the plethora of blemishes

up that photograph.

There is a very strong
possibility this girl could
bite her toenails.

Something that has never
been in my arsenal of nervous
habits.

Come down here during hurricane season then if you want to see some tornados and hurricanes. You can get the same adrenaline rush on a roller coaster.

Scav's been pondering your facination with the forces of nature and have found the answer for you. You can witness first hand the fury of nature, not put anyone in harms way and you can do it at anytime thus not having to wait or hunt. You could even maek money on it....maybe I give you:

Scav's 1st Annual Barrell over Niagara Falls Run.

Date: To be set

All DTers are invited to witness this thrill of nature taken on by Scav's.

Visitation and burial arrangements to be announced pending outcome

Since I have lived in my current location there have been 2 tornados that have touched down within 5 miles of me....they don't conveniently happen during the day so you can watch and see what's happening...and they destroy lives and property.
The last one killed a whole bunch of animals that were trapped when the barn they were in fell on them....
while it may be a thrill to see one rip through a corn field, you have to consider that it just ruined someone's crop (ie earnings) for the year....they are never without consequence.
scavs, i understand the rush of seeing one but hoping for one just to get that thrill is a bit much.

I think there is a misscommunication here.

I am not WISHING for tornados or HOPING for them. But, if I were to go to the middle of Oklahoma during May/June/July, the probablity of seeing one is probably quite large.

I am not sitting outside every day and say "PLEASE O LORD, please praise this day with the wrath of a cyclone"

Spyder, been to Niagara Falls, not really that cool.

Being in a tornado probably sounds better than it really is.

If you really want some fun, come down for the next Category 5 hurricane. Traffic heading south will be light.

How long did that earthquake last the other day? 10-15 minutes? Not fun but try 110 mph winds for 6 hours straight.

I can say I've ridden one out. It won't happen again.

I rode out Isabel in 2003. I stayed at the clubhouse (old ass all brick building) of the golf course I was managing at the time. Watching 100 foot pine trees being snapped in half or the entire tree being uprooted...yeah...scary sh*t to say the least. No power for 10 days.

Well Scavs your welcome down here next time we get a hurricane....it's a blast !

Oh wait, might have another disaster in the works...Mississippi River is 2 feet below the levees and still rising...129 bays open on the spillway diverting the river and water still coming up. Sorry strike that you don't like floods..

On one side I can understand your fascination, there are lots of disaster tourists. Then there are the disaster junkies, I didn't know about them until Katrina, they come as "first responders" many create more chaos and then for some reason never leave, or leave in the middle of something to go to another disaster. There's a group of people that are always ready to deploy, it's strange, not talking about the true first responders, firemen, law enforcement, medical teams, red cross etc., just disaster junkies, especially the animal rights freaks.

But I don't see you as one of the latter, you wouldn't have computer service so no bettting, no forum, you would go into withdrawal.....

Maybe you should go be a disaster tourist, it would seriously alter your life. Be careful though not to be too excited while it's happening, people that live in the disaster zone don't appreciate disaster tourists. It's one thing to come in and see and be able to return to the normalcy of your life, but when you have to live it and know life will never be the same people get very edgy. Best be locked and loaded.

Like I said been there done that and NEVER want to do it again but if your really interested hurricane season is just a month and a 1/2 away, tornados, 100 mph wind, it's thrilling...let me know if you want to come see a disaster, we can hook you up....

You seriously need to get one of the push button generators, they really work as long as everything is wired up to go. Takes some of the anxiety out of a very scary time. I'm in love with my generators....

But yeah, that is scary with the tornados at nite. At least with hurricanes we know they are coming, pretty much where they are coming and when they are going to hit. Not that we don't get the tornados with them but at least we have more time to prepare.
I hate when we are getting severe storms and tornados predicted and all you can do is wait and watch. We don't have sirens in my area, we live too far out of town. Disasters suck!
