Wouldn't have been easier to just look at all the times?

On the final sentence......that's probably the single biggest knock on the horse.....that is, assuming you meant ridden and not written.

can i write(ride) on big brown too? i think i'll write(ride) him off. i'll be looking for a big brown in the toilet on sunday morning . maybe i'll write(ride) on that one too .
