So from the draw Eight Bells seems to have no excuse not to run in the Derby at this point if they were ever serious

I'm really glad Gayego got 20.
He was one of those I was going to toss anyway, but he would have scared me a little.
Now I can toss him without worry.

Okay, watching the draw program live on the Louisville TV stations ... can't help but notice that the post postion board has "delivered by UPS" on it .... (Big Brown tie in) In loading, 10 and 20 last horses in.

PS Delta Queen far outdistancing the Belle in the Great Steamboat Race ...
update - the Delta Queen CHEATED and turned around early, before 6-mile-island - Inquiry sign up - Belle is now in front on technicality!

(numbers blowing off the posting board when TOE chose)

1 - Cool Coal Man
2 - Tale of Ekati
3- Anak Nakal
4 - Court Vision
5 - Eight Belles - most winners (along with post 1 and 12) from this post
6 - Z Fortune 15-1
7 - Big Truck 50-1
8 - Visionaire
9 - Pyro (no winner since Riva Ridge 1972 this post)
10 - Colonel John
11 - Z Humor 30-1
12 - Smooth Air 20-1 (last postwin Cannonero 1971)
13 - Bob Black Jack 20-1
14 - Monba 15-1 (2 winners, Carry Back '51, and didn't catch the other - 1960?)
15- Adriano 30-1
16 - Denis of Cork 20-1
17 - Cowboy Cal 20-1
18 - Recapturetheglory 20-1
19 - Gayego 15-1
20 - Big Brown 3-1 (bought after owner's trucking company signed 5-year contract renew with UPS)

I'm not sure how excellent that is with the three speed horses to his outside.

This draw couldn't have really worked out much better for Cool Coal Man and Tale of Slowkati to suck up for third. Total lack of speed outside should assure them of getting great trips on the inside behind the frontrunners who are going to have to clear them and crash down from outside.

I've been leaning towards Denis, and now he gets the strangely successful Kentucky Derby post of either 15 or 16
Just having some fun with it, but Big Brown in the 20 spot? That's no fun for his backers, regardless of what Dutrow says

Carry Back was in '61. Count Turf in '51, Venetian Way in '60.

In Big Brown's grand total of 2 dirt races,
he did not take a smidgen of dirt.
They just might stay wide not worrying
about ground maybe (until the turn home).

Dutrow may think he can beat the others
going 1 and 3/4.

BB doesn't want any of the speed. Now we know BB is vulnerable.
