Default Got Damn ESPN

I knew they'd show her laying on the track on her back. I hate this bullshit. Why do you have to show her laying there fighting for her life? What do you get by showing her laying there over just saying she went down? They showed her after the race then after the damn Vet talking about what happened. **** you ESPN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto. The local Lexington NBC affiliate, who had a great all-day Derby show, and handled the incident with great sensitivity during the broadcast, pulled up every scrap of video they had on her going down and being down for the 11:00pm news sports broadcast. I telephoned immediately, but the lines were busy (gee, ya think?) - so sent off the nastygram e-mail this morning.

100% gratuitous shock bullshit ratings crap.

Obviously an awful thing, but was ESPN really that bad to show a brief glimpse of her down? It's the absolute worst part of horse racing and I wish there would never be breakdowns, especially on the national stage, but come on it's not like they showed the vet sticking the needle in her.

And more and more each day our rights and freedoms are being taken away due, in part, to these vocal idiots.

Reporting it, but not showing every scrap of video of it, isn't pretending it didn't happen.

You aren't being forced to watch it. Unless you're one of the 10 people in the U.S. who doesn't have a remote control, could you please stop with the e-mails that do nothing more than try and censor the press and take away information from the rest of us? Thanks.

I think there is a vast difference between "The Press" and "You-Tube".

You? Apparently not so much.

That's not for you to decide and try to control. I have no problem with you having an opinion but when you try and turn into some sort of god and use that opinion to control the press and restrict what others can see, that's when I tell you to gfy.

My opinion is that the 11:00pm local NBC news affiliate doesn't have to dig up and show every scrape of video they have of Eight Belles dying when discussing this story.

Including, after showing all the film they have of her laying on her side with the vets giving her injections and her legs straight out to the side, quivering - a pan shot, with the news announcer saying, "Watch here, in the corner of this clip of Big Brown, Eight Belles is the head in the right hand corner, you can see her bob her head and go down". And the overhead of her going down.

I have every right to complain loud, long and publically to the news editor about deciding to show gratuitous video crap of a horse in severe distress and dying that adds nothing whatsoever explainatory to the story.

You're free to contact him and encourage him to show more of it.

It adds nothing to story? Really????

It's impossible to be rational with someone who is completely out of touch with reality. Good luck to you.

In my house I'm more upset with the Viagra and Cialis commercials than Eight Belles coverage!! I can't even watch the KY Derby or baseball games with my kids anymore without them hearing about 7 hour erections 4 times in a couple hours!!

Yeah. In my opinion it adds nothing at all to the story.

You trying to lecture me on the "reality" of animal death and euthanasia is beyond a joke.

And these boner commercials are needed because people go into shock and then depression over seeing acl and groin injuries in baseball and tragic breakdowns in horse racing.

There you go trying to flaunt your status again.

Nobody cares, ****. It'll take maybe two generations of your family to pass in order for you to be completely forgotten. You're a wannabe.
