Race 8 Horse #2 Sly Storm

Was going to run on Derby Day but got scratched b/c of the track early on the card. Been waiting for this baby to run ever since. He's had 3 awesome works since then and is ready to destroy this field. It's my biggest bet of the year and thought I'd share it with you.

Sly Storm $250 wps

Good Luck

Why would you play the favorite WPS? 750.00 is allot of money to crap out for a small return.

Why not single the horse in some P3, and late DD's, and risk less.

You could be right on that but I've burnt myself in the past trying to get by cheaper in Pic 3's and 4's and so forth. I've done that a couple times in teh past where I've loved a horse and ended up losing money because I've tried to get too cute on my tickets.

You never know what the odds may do on race day and I don't have the comfort to sit and wait for the race to go off so I just need to bet him heavy and wait until the next spot play. I might just go w/p. Thanks for the input.

with all the different types of bets available at the track these days, the show bet is by far the worst. The place bet is not much better.

bet $400 to win and $50ex box with the horse you are afraid of.

Default So...

great idea in theory, but you put 400 on the nose, and exacta box the horse you love with 3 other horses.....your horse runs second and the three you put in your exacta run out, you end up -700? I think a lot of factors go into this. Odds, comfort level of other races for your pick 3's and 4's, and your liking for the others in the race. For example on the Oaks, I played Proud Spell heavy across the board and did not play one exotic ticket....I think she paid roughly 8.80 to win 4.80 to place and close to 4.00 to show. I was extremely happy with this. Thanks again to mrb posting a play of his, and I will leave my opinions on how he should play it to him. I don't think mrb was asking us the best way to play a horse he likes!

p.s. I know a guy that makes a very comfortable living off place/show spot plays. So there are people still utilizing these wagers.
