Default Relaxed Gesture

If anyone saw the terrible ride that Kent D gave him, you'd think he's been taking riding lessons from GG. Another memorable ride by Kent D...

I was wondering-- so, he took the lead, then brought him back to fourth and then what happened? (I'm very much a novice in watching the jockeys' performances in the races... would love to hear analysis...)

I think something is wrong with him anyway. 3/5 is just plain crazy for a horse who doesn't like to win. But I think he'll be layed up for a long time.

Took him to the front, ahead of the pace setter, choked him back, took him inside, got boxed in fourth. Now if that doesn't confuse a horse, not much else will. The horse is thinking, "Do you want me to be ahead? Do you want me to go? Where do I go?"..."What are you asking me to do?"
Bad, Bad Ride!

he was not worth 3/5 and the two other horses that actually figured from a sheet standpoint ran 1 and 2.

Exactly, used 3 in the Pick 4. Gesture, Go Deputy and Silver Whistle, would've liked to have seen Silver take it, but as long as the favorite was out its good enough.

The stewards need to call him in for that ride. It was beyond bizarre. It doesn't really matter what price you thought he should be or whether you liked him, fact is after setting a moderate first half mile he stood up in the irons and strangled him back to 4th. That was definitely awful.

When clueless Hank Goldberg is calling you out on your ride, you have hit rock bottom.

Same here. Used the same three in the late double with the 1 and 3.
Nice double payout....

kent desormeaux looked like a rank amateur today with that ride. one of the worst i've ever seen by a jock, especially when kent is considered to be in the upper echelon of the sport. i can't remember the last time i've seen such an atrocious display of 'riding'!!!

Gomez on Milwaukee in the 9th race at the Spa yesterday. It was even worse, it has to be seen to be believed. You want a real laugh Zieg? Look up the chart call of that horse on equibase and Drf. It will make you laugh your ass off.

You won't believe it. Keep in mind that the chart caller only has so much room to work with and can't state everything that occurred. The chart call is funny enough but he left out lots of stuff!!!!!! One of the top ten worst rides I ever saw in my life.

Or if you had a 5 dollar pik-4 that you would have had. You really have to see this ride to get the full effect. It was even worse than the chart call. Funny thing is that noone else who ever rode her had a problem with her, horses usually don't get "rank" at that age after that many starts.
I watched it with a group of guys and many had the horse going in the pik-4. The profanity started early on, got steadily worse, and by the time they hit the stretch I was hearing words that even I don't use. You really need to see the replay to understand just how awful it was.

I disagree with you guys about Desmormeaux's ride. He probably did not particularly want to be on the lead to begin with but the pace was very slow and he ended up on the lead as they passed the stands the first time. Then when Ramazutti decided that he was going to challenge RG, Desormeaux took back and let Ramazutti go. That's exactly what he should have done. He didn't want to be head and head with Ramazutti. The clubhouse turn is certainly not too late in the race to take back.

I actually became somewhat of a Jose Valdivia fan for doing that exact thing. He was on a horse that I bet in a 1 1/2 mile race at Santa Anita. He was on the lead going into the clubhouse turn when another horse challenged him. The last thing I wanted him to do was go haed and head with that horse. Anyway, Jose knew it was a long race and he was smart enough to take back and let the other horse go. Jose ended up winning the race. The thing that won the race for him was taking back when that other horse challenged him. I think he would have been dead if he went head and head with that horse.

Anyway, it obviously was not good when Kent got in a little tight at the 3/8 pole, but what can you do. That happens sometimes when you're in traffic. I don't think he had much horse any way. I don't think he would have won the race no matter what he would have done.

i think he waited too long to pull him back, going by the finish line the first time round and then pulls him back?? hell, the horse probably thought the race was over and then wondered why they went all the way around again instead of pulling up on the back side!
