![]() It's almost time again for the annual Derby Trail Contest. This contest is simple, each week a list of stakes races for 3 year old horses will be posted and you will be asked to pick one horse for each race that you believe will be the winner. The “bet” you are placing is a $2 WPS and where ever your horse finishes, you will get that payout across the board (ie: if your horse wins, you will get the win/show/place payouts combined, if your horse places you will get place/show, etc.). It is strongly recommended that you play each race every week. You don’t lose “money” if you don’t play (and you don’t lose “money” if your pick loses), but you do lose the chance to make “money”. If you miss a week or start late, that ok – with the right longshot winner, anyone can do well!
AND as an added bonus, anyone who places bets before the KY Derby on the eventual winner gets those points (or $$$) multiplied by 10 (ie: Big Brown in last years Florida Derby paid $5.00 / $3.80 / $3.20 for a $2 bet across the board so your return was $12.00. With this contest, after he won the KY Derby, you would be credited with an additional $120 - Winning points of $12.00 x 10 = $120). Normally, our first race of the year is the Tropical Park Derby at Calder Race Course on January 1st but I read that it was cut by Calder this year so we'll be starting the contest a week or so into the new year. I'll post the entries and past performances for each contest race as soon as they become available. Hopefully this makes sense, let me know if you want to play in the contest, I'd like to start getting the contest spreadsheet ready early. Good Luck to everyone and Happy Holidays!

![]() DC thanks for running another edition of this fun, yet challenging, contest.
Let me suggest Lecomte (G3) from Fair Grounds on January 10 as possible race. It is first stake leading to 95th running of Louisiana Derby (G2) on March 14. Second leg is Risen Star (G3) on February 7.
