Why does how much he out into the overall ticket make a difference?

I was always taught that to figure out the parlay, you take the price the winner paid in the first leg and roll it over into the 2nd race and then take that total and roll it over into the 3rd race. All based on a $2 mutual.

In this case:

Race 1 winner paid $3 for a $2 bet. Take that $3 and bet it on the winner of the next leg which paid $14, so $14 x 1.5 = $21. Take that $21 and bet it on the winner of the last leg, so $32.40 x 10.5 = $340.20

He's on crack. The parlay is based soley on the price the winner paid in each leg, no matter if you singled a horse or used all in a leg.

That's the way I figured it. I just had no confidence in the method.

Using his thought process, different people are gonna have different parlays for the same pick 3. If you play the ticket you played for $1 and I play a straight ticket for $1, our parlay is still the same. I will just show a better RIO is all. You can't have a different parlay for the same pick 3.

Both ways are essentially correct, one looks at the winners on a $2 wager and the other looks at the winners based on you actually parlaying your invested money.

Very nice swede.

A buddy of mine is in on the 10. He told me Saturday that he was ready to run, I just didn't think he was good enough for this bunch and left him off. He nearly upset my ticket. Next time, I'll listen to him.

$27 total invested, so the parlay (if I am doing this correctly would be)

2: $9 win on 3,6,10 = $13.50 returned
3: $4 win on 3,4,9 = $28 returned
4: $9 win on 5,6,8 = $145 returned

I don't think you figure it based on 27 on the winner in the first because you are cutting it into a 1/3 but I could be wrong...

This is your accountant? Jesus.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, this isn't rocket science. Take half the price that the first winner paid, multiply it by the second winner's price. Divide that by two, multiply that by the third winner's price. If you played it for $2, there's your parlay amount. If you played it for $1, divide that number in half and there's your parlay amount.

Again, they are looking at the $2 cold parlay, I was looking at the total invested parlay, there is a difference

Which is the same number kgb came up with....

Hell no, he's not my accountant, but he's usually good at crunching horse related numbers.

Maybe the big Indian chick threw him off his game today.

First off, I am a very good accountant, so far.

2nd off, and while I understand the depth of what I am trying to say is hard to comprehend. You invested $27, not $2, so technically, if you PARLAYED your money in that case, my numbers are correct. I took it a step further then you guys are.

Off subject, could you please lose the avatar? Please? I'm tired of that ugly....thing. Consult kgb if you must, he can help out greatly with more pleasant avatars.

got another tri out of it... but cheap with the chalk on top... alive to the 10th. 3 pays 184.70 12 pays 450.00 but will live with it either way... the tri in the 8th made it a good day.... the pick 4 could mean steak for dinner...
I DO share the wealth with my bride for 26 years...
