Haskin's piece? He said he was going to write about Miller, who has been a total gentleman about the whole thing. McCarthy showed up at the barn after the Sam Davis and said he was taking the horse away and why should Miller get to win a Gr. III when McCarthy hadn't won one listed as trainer.

Everyone in the racing office at Tampa Bay despises McCarthy and knows what a fraud he is. Miller worked day after day all winter getting General Quarters to calm down and accept instruction. Typical that his reward is to get screwed.

The stewards at TBD said there was nothing they can do to get Miller paid. Pathetic.

That's crazy. So trainers can just get stiffed with no recourse?

too bad that some of the better horses are owned by unsavory hard to root for characters.

sometimes good things happen to bad people-and vice versa.

It's just a microcosm of life. The racetrack is not perceptively different from any other business.

McCarthy's career training record is now 14-for-237 with most of those wins coming at Turfway Park.

$1.24 on every $2 - that includes the Blue Grass win.

I bet very few trainers have ever had their 14th career training victory come in the Blue Grass Stakes.

If Jean Cruget can win the Triple Crown then anything is possible in this game.

For lack of a more pleasant or articulate way of saying it -- what a little $hit.

true. but none of us tune in to watch bill gates in action or cheer on the cfo of coca cola. we like to like our rooting interests.

altho, i do still root for the redskins, dan snyder notwithstanding.

probably if he has any kind of legit contract/case. altho quite often a verbal agreement is airtight. or he might just say 'lesson learned' and move on. still a shame tho.

I would think if Miller was listed as the trainer on record for the race, the money should have been paid to his account, shouldn't it??Or are they at the mercy of the owner?
If he is not paid,it will sure look ugly for McCarthy when word gets around like it is.

That is completely not true. They simply dont WANT to get involved.

Ironically enough it is like Ken Ramsey still owns the horse...

Only NJ to my knowledge takes the trainers % out.
