Default Healthcare Reform

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090511/...a_healthcare_5

Until they are serious about changing the Doctor Salaries, then this will go nowhere. You can't pay a guy 300k-500k/year to get rich off sick people. You end up with very little care for your money, and that's what we have. Maybe they're rock star talents, or whatever. Special people etc. got to make their bling. O.K., BUT THEY ARE NOT DOING SOMETHING THAT OTHERS CAN'T DO. Go make it designing shoes or some other optional extra in life. Go!..get out of medicine...please...leave it. Start designing the ultimate cell phone that comes with optional blown-job add on...Whateva you need to do to get rich. That's the only way you'll be happy. Stop taking 300-500k out of the pool. You want to start solving this? Stop making it Lotto, and starting making it a well paid destination for the best nurses. Pay for the training of those who really love medicine. Let the smart kid goldiggers make their greedy way in another profession. This one is supposed to be serving sick people. Not serving you greedy bastards. Let all those greedy kids in college know that this is not their pot of gold. Go into a luxury item field, because medicine needs to change into a team sport, and stop being about rock stars getting rich off sick people. Simple as that. The AMA has to be defeated before you can solve this. Sick people are getting shorted so these people can play big pick 6 tickets, go to Italy, and get 1 more BMW. THAT'S ALL FINE STUFF TO DO IN A LUXURY ITEM FIELD OF WORK. YOU ARE NOT ROCK STARS, OR GIFTED ATHLETES. You're just making Lotto off sick people. That's not a luxury situation. You've tried to keep it A LUXURY ITEM. You need to be defeated. You must be defeated. You will be defeated, OR HEALTHCARE COSTS WILL NEVER BE CONTROLLED. It's beyond insane to keep saying they aren't the problem. Hello!! Hell fkn -oooo!!! 300k-500k a year into one person's hands? That's not ever gunna work. Keep trying. You'll just keep shorting patients to pay for Beemers.

I disagree SCUDS.

I think the biggest health care reform should be directed to the John Edwards of the world. Lawyers who sue doctors and hospitals for hundreds of millions hurt our heath care costs a TON more than paying top notch, educated people who save lives 500K..

Doctors IMO are worth what they make, but its harder and harder for them to do their jobs with sue happy America hoping to be able to get rich quick.

There are times when doctors make mistakes where people should be compensated fairly for that, but people like John Edwards abuse the system and greatly increase the cost of healthcare.

And most Drs have to make at least $2-300K just to pay their malpractice for reasons you put above

also, I believe a gifted brain surgeon is way more talented than the A-rod's, Chase Utley's and Manny's of the world.

In fact I would be much happier to see a brain surgeon be paid 100 mill over 10 years and a baseball player be paid 300-500k to hit a freaking ball.

Its pretty disgusting how much athletes are paid. But my friend brought up a good point that if the athletes were not paid that much.. the owners would be making insane amounts of cash. Which made me think....

I think communities should "own" their sports teams, instead of one owner. Pay the players a LOT less (highest amount being able to make 750K per year) and give all the profits to the government, and then eliminate federal income taxes for people and have our sports teams pay for our taxes!

exactly... reforming that part of the business would single handidly (sp) reform health care costs.

Thats really the only part that needs to be changed. IMO It would make costs affordable to people who are not covered by their employer.

Also anyone under 18 should never be denied health care, but isnt that already in place?

Socialized medicine is just a way to completely destroy the health care in this country though. its just a bad idea!

It's an endless cycle of greed. lawyers sue doctors which in turn raises the doctors insurance rates which in turn causes some doctors to abuse medicare and become nothing more than licensed drug dealers in order to cover their expenses/insurance and live a decent life.

Insurance companies nearly completely control the practice of medicine in this country. They control the costs to patients both insured and uninsured, they control what diagnostic tests the patient's doctor can run for particular conditions (and be paid for), they control via cost what the doctor and his staff and hospital staffs can earn.

Doctors rarely get to practice medicine, they are allowed to do what the insurance companies permit them to do for many patients.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you're the Doctor's daughter. Doubt you're going to be objective. Pay daddy more, and treat the patients less. You're pretty consistent on the issue. Like I said. Baseball is a luxury item. Medicine is not. Greedy bastards have tried to turn it into that(luxury.) They need to be defeated...At once.

I think the pharmacutical companies are the biggest thieves , doctors are who they are because they are smarter than you and I but the drug companies that extort millions of dollars out of sick people thru their insurance companies need to be put under scrutiny.
I know that research costs alot , but after drugs have been on the market for so long its hard to justify the amount of money that they charge.

Don't compare an optional luxury item to a necessity. That's where we went wrong in the first place.

eggggggggggzactly.

The Medicare Reform Act Bush signed a few years ago was nothing more than a heist of the treasury by pharmaceutical companies. Instead of controlling costs, as was promised, the pharmaceutical companies raised prices exponentially and ass-raped the treasury.

If you think health care is a societal necessity, and you think everyone is equally entitled to receive good health care (regardless of income, social class, place of living, etc), then what's your beef with what you posted?

No, Scuds is tired of Doctors making 300k-500k/year off sick people. As far as the 7 years of training goes, we should pay for for it, but make sure it's for people that love medicine, and not just smart kids that want to get rich. Smart kids that want to get rich should be allowed to go into a field of luxury items(games, entertainment, engineering, design etc.) Medicine needs to be taken out of the goldigger's menu. It's that simple.

If you've been keeping an eye on the buyouts and mergers of pharmaceutical companies, one of the other, over the past few months, you'll be even more scared. Nothing like buying up and eliminating your competitors for certain classes of drugs, so less brands are on the market. I can't believe that anti-trust laws are not coming into play with some of these?

Then you'll be please to know that the average doctor only earns between $100-150K per year once out in practice and experienced (10-12 years post-graduation).

Medicine hasn't been a drawing ground for "smart kids that just want to get rich" for at least 20 years. That was long ago replaced by tech companies and Wall Street (finance).
