Well how can Smith be at Calder and Hollywood on the same day? I think Rosario will be on her in the end, he's the only jock without a mount in the race.

"Jockey Mike Smith, who was scheduled to ride all three Baffert runners on Saturday, will also be a late scratch. Baffert said Smith would be replaced by Michael Baze aboard Underground and Jamie Theriot on Wall Street Wonder."

What a double it would be for Shug if he could win the Gold Cup with Parading and on the other coast, the Man o War with Dancing Forever!

I wonder when the last time a trainer won Grade 1's in California and NY on the same day?

I doubt it has been that long since Pletcher or Frankel has done it.

Pletcher won the American Oaks and United Nations on the same day - almost.

No doubt if Life Is Sweet wins today it may open up Zenyatta to try the males not too soon after. You have to think that was part of Sheriff's thinking today.

I think it was a way to keep them apart more then she being ready to win this race. She isn't going to beat this group. I suggest if she hits the board its a very fortunate day for them.

You don't have to think that at all. Shirreffs didn't want to run her here. Theh owners didn't want to ship and they didn't want to face Zenyatta. Those were the biggest reasons behind her showing up here.

I actually like her quite abit in this spot, though she got a perfect trip in her last against Zenyatta - beaten less than 2 lengths - that race was very good. If the race sets up for her I can see her being right there in the end. I really don't believe in the notion that fillies cannot compete with colts so it wouldn't surprise me at all if she wins today.

Don't know where it comes from. Even in the US, running top mares against colts was rarely questioned during the 20th Century, if they fit. Easy Goer's mum ran third in the JC Gold Cup behind John Henry, didn't hurt her. Xtra Heat nearly won a BC Sprint.

Happens all the time everywhere else. Just Friday, 4yo filly won the G1 July Cup (5f) at Newmarket. The new trainer is talking about running Jealous Again in the 5 Nunthorpe S (G1) against her elders, male and female; she would get a huge weight break and it's been done several times before, the most recent being in 1994.

Maybe I've lost my mind but I think Dakota Phone looks good.

(Song of Navarone looks interesting too in a use-underneath kinda way).

Good luck everyone.

Tres Borrachos looks interesting. He scored a 104 beyer last out but it was in an ALW though it was a nice front running win. Its 6 weeks since that score and he could very well record a similar figure. Then again I could be wrong
Good luck to all!
