I definitely hope he shows up in the Super Derby, but staying east for the JCGC might be the better option if his owners want to win an Eclipse. If he stubs his toes in the Super Derby against the likely short field, then his reputation will be definitely tarnished. Who knows, Vineyard Haven may win the the JCGC, finish second in the BC Classic, then win the Cigar Mile. Those two wins over older horses might be enough to convince voters in a year when the 3yos keep beating each other. If Summer Bird finished second or a close third behind older horses in his next start, it would basically wrap up an Eclipse, short of MTB winning the Goodwood and Clark or winning the Classic.

I wonder where Godolphin will go from here with Music Note, Sarah Louise and Vineyard Haven?

I imagine that Sarah Louise will be penciled in for the Ruffian, Music Note for the Beldame, and Vineyard Haven for the JCGC.

they were saying that because of his fla derby win over the superhyped dunkirk, and his very nice comeback effort at 6.5. that and the fact he's yet to lose to rachel, while the others have.

i'm not ready to give 'the other' bird the 3 yo championship, but he's definitely in the lead for it. repeats his old mans belmont/travers double-he's a very nice colt.
if he goes to the super derby, i'll have to make plans to go down.

Do you think it's possible QR was uneasy before the race because he was already doomed here?

Is this getting a bit old, I have been better and not responding to most of it, but come on man. QR freaked out before the race, he looked like **** before the race, he had a tough trip and never looked comfortable. Not to mention he did not get out ok.
Another topic, does it seem like all todds horses are not getting out of the gate? I think his 2 maidens broke slow today and QR.

you shouldn't take this personally.

quality road was asked too much too soon off the layoff. pletcher sounded less than confident from the beginning. i don't know why anyone would be shocked that he didn't do as well as some thought he would. he's not that super colt people were looking for-more their fault than his i would think.

But it is not getting old. It never gets old!
And, that's my point, he freaked out knowing he had an impossible burden!

It's nothing to get excited about considering he was drowned by RA in the Haskell and that is highly unlikely to change in the coming months if they meet again.

The boys are average at best this year.

Once those horses were literally body to body Garcia was still whipping away, my humble opinion the horses and jocks should consider themselves lucky nobody went down seeing how their legs appeared to have tangled.
