what happened to all else will wait while we fix the economy? last i checked, the economy still needed fixing-but it's all shunted aside for health care reform, which imo should not be #1 on the list of things to do.

there was an editorial in the paper here the other day about first bush, and now obama, being so over-exposed. it's really gotten ridiculous. the president isn't supposed to be a celebrity, going around and visiting and making speeches, appearing on t.v. he's supposed to be working.

This is silly.
I always thought it was stupid when people on the left criticized Bush for being on vacation for 27% of his working days, and I think this is stupid too.

Would Obama really have been able to craft the perfect health care bill in the time it took to tape Letterman?
Would Bush really have been able to fix Iraq if only he hadn't spent all that time down on the ranch clearing brush?

Being president is basically just a public relations job with a few actual decisions sprinkled in every once in awhile....regardless of who is in the office. The staff and the rest of the administration do the work and the president basically goes out there and tries to win them four more years of doing it. People might wish it wasn't like that....but that is the reality.
