Wouldnt you know it, the channel I watch the most (OTB Network) doesnt come in in high def?! Talk about frustrating. Sitting home watching ESPN in crisp high def and flipping back to the horse channel and having to see regular old low def....sucks! I wish we had TVG available without having to get a satellite or direct TV.

I play Crysis at 1680x1050 resolution at almost 60 FPS.

How's that for hi def?

My housemate gets like 1920x1280 at 60 FPS!

I think the thing that really makes hi def impressive to people is the really nice contrast ratio and the glossy laptop like screen coverings.

sports or action movies are great in HD, anything else is no big deal.

i personally can't see any picture difference between 1080p, 1080i, or 720p. the refresh rates above 60 are also lost on me even though i did get a 120.

i do notice better sound on some blu-ray releases but i spent more on the sound system than i did on the tv so there you go.

all the high def programming is a game changer from standard though. if i had it all to do over again, i'd have spent less on the tv (going 720p) and even more on the speakers. i love playing music on this system. and the blu-ray's are a bonus.

There are pretty good guides online as to screen size in relation to distance from the TV and they pretty much forced me to get a 67 inch TV cause I already had a 53 inch TV and the distance to my TV was 12-15 feet. That was the only way I could be physically capable of seeing 720p against 1080p. But yet, the 720 over Dish looks almost identical to the 1080p over Blu-Ray. However, the DVD on 480p/1080i looks like crap now on the 67 inch even though it looked great at 53 inches.

HDNet has a show called InFocus. part of the series is a a travel show, that does low, slow, flyover tours of countries and cities from around the world. it's ridiculous in HD.
