![]() Seems as if NY breds have had quite a run with colts who turn into graded stakes winners at age two or three the past few years.
2002- The Ny bred Funny Cide wins a nice two year old Ny bred stakes race, goes on to win 3 grade ones 2003- Friends Lake wins a ny bred two year old stakes race and goes on to win the grade one Florida Derby. 2005- Sharp Humor wins Ny bred stakes races, at age three wins the Swale and gets beaten a neck in the Florida derby to Barbaro. I'd have to say that Imanumbersguy has a very good shot to join these ny bred two year olds who went on to big things. In yesterday's Bertram Bongard Stakes, off just two weeks rest after breaking his maiden at Delaware agaisnt open company, he won the Bongard with alarming ease and authority. The fact that he did off two weeks rest of just his first start makes it even more impressive. He looked very good doing it and even though his sire is a sprint sire primarily, his running style(my very favorite, lope with speed and then hit them with a burst) and stride indicates he will go at least one mile and most likely farther. I'd expect him to go in the NY bred showcase Day at belmont in the two year old one mile race and then perhaps try a race like the Remsen before heading to Oaklawn Park for the winter with Tim Ritchey. Watch this replay if you haven't seen the race yet. It was a NY bred race so it slipped through the cracks as far as media coverage has gone. This is a VERY nice two year old. |

I haven't seen the race yet, but I agree, 'numbersguy' looks real nice. I like L-dog's Bad Boy Rising too. He could have a nice racing career too.

So he watched it on tv. He called me when it was over and he said well what do you think? I said there is good news and bad news. I said the bad news was that i doubted BBR could ever beat the winner in a race. I said the good news was that perhaps the winner had bigger fish to fry and may pass the next NY bred race and that BBR was easily 2nd. BBR could wind up the favorite on NY bred showcase day in the mile 2YO race if Ritchey decides to take an open company shot elsewhere. |

After that I suggested to him that it might be a nice time to scratch the grass itch. Hes a Freud, and they really move up on the grass. He could try and open company grass race to see how he likes it. Lans likes to take a big shot once in a while but for the most part hes a pretty rational owner who likes to run his horses where they can win and where they belong based on their ability and current form. |

![]() That horse "I'm a Numbers guy" was simply awesome yesterday. Under a hand ride and was moving like a horse with a real nice future. Landson's horse had a nice finish to get the runner up spot over a staggering Baxter. I was disappointed with Violette's and Jerken's horses, both of whom I thought had a legit chance in here. Nice horse Ritchey has.

Of course when I said Commentator was gonna be a graded stakes horse Seattle's actual quote was that all he could ever win was NY bred races. All he did was win the Whitney. Stick to computers Seattle. |

![]() Quite impressive off of two weeks rest. Looks like Tim has another monster in his stable.
Impressive as he was, top honors for the day go to Five Star Daydream. Dominated despite being behind a slow pace. Looks like this filly could make some noise down the road. |
