i know they said that about winslow, but i didn't see that said about miner's reserve.

actually, third here pays better then a win there. guess we'll see saturday.
Wouldn't you want to have a stakes win on your resume? Not that the Curlin would be easy, but obviously it would be easier.

I respect everyone in the field - I guess Afleet Express is the hot horse and will probably be the favorite.

Are you implying Miner's Reserve has a serious shot in this race? If not, then please explain why he's not better off in the Curlin? I personally don't want him in the race for 2 reasons: 1) I hate to root against one of my favorite horses and that's what would happen here. I'm very confident in Fly Down. 2) I don't think he belongs with these horses yet; what has he shown that makes you think he does? I love the horse, so it's not that I don't think he's not talented.
I get it, it's just that I've never seen you not complain about a spot being too ambitious for a horse you like. There are no monsters in the Dandy. Fly Down? What's he done? Win the Peter Pan and run second in one of the worst Belmonts in history? A Little Warm is probably the best horse in the race and he has distance questions.

I posted here initially because I didn't like the idea of him being a rabbit for Fly Down, not because I thought he was overmatched.

In any case, I think Fly Down is the best horse and I am very confident in him; I've said from the beginning of the year that this was a a very good horse - the fact that the Belmont was a slow race does not change my mind about him one bit. I think you mean the Dwyer, not the Peter Pan.

The biggest questions in this race for me are, Was Winslow Homer ever that good, and how good is Afleet Express? Winslow Homers last was brutal, but the horse who won that race might be at the top of this class. He should have at least ran second though. Afleet Express IMO might be that good, but he has to prove it in here. A few things I am pretty sure of Friend or Foe wont run well in here, and the 2 horses coming out of the Delware race the 5,6 are not that good, I want them to prove that last number is legit in here, I am not sold at all on either of them. I would actually be shocked if 5,6,8 even hit the board.
i like fly down here too. somehow the program has him at 3-1...i can only hope....lol. i would not sell winslow short, if he goes. the trainer usually does not show up without a shot and i kind of discount losses at those kind of tracks. winlows races have all been bang up besides the last one and hes run good here before. besides that i'm kind of suspect of all these others until they can beat fly down. a little warm looks like a horse that might stop today....the ones out of the pegasus might be nothing...friend or foe has to prove himself here, aikenite was no match for winslow last time they met and the foriegn horse is an unknown. i'm going to try a 9/7 exacta . fly down/ winslow homer.

he has a legit shot in the dandy, there are no singles in here. no guts, no glory. black type looks good, a 75k stakes...not so much. plenty of time for him to get a 75k win under his belt. this race isn't looking to be a tough one. if he's doing well, i see no reason not to try.

Good point.........I readily admit I'm conservative when it comes to my favorite horses. I do think he'll be scratched, though...

it's obvious. one thing you forget, most of these horses nowadays are lightly raced, so it really isn't an angle anymore. most horses don't go thru their conditions these days. if they show ability, they go into stakes races, make a name (hopefully) and go where the money is truly made, the shed.

Also, I hate having 2 favorites in the race because unless they dead heat for the win, one is going to lose............but I would be very happy if Fly Down won and MR ran well. That's my preferred order, but I would take the reverse any day.

You're right about being shifted off to the shed the moment they show some of their potential on the track - and I think that's a shame, particularly with good horses whose pedigrees indicate improvement as they get older.

Forever Together wins that race if she gets going a bit sooner... she didn't get on track until deep stretch then she rolled.

I have to watch the replay as I didn't really follow Shared Act.

Mid-stretch though Informed Decision looked as though she was on her wrong lead, her head was cocked and she wasn't in stride... then she got clear and started kicking in. I thought she ran big... sure, she might have lost a step, but I thought if she could have found that stride a 16th sooner, she wins.

Well, I guess I'm glad that MR ran because he ran very well........he would have won the Curlin easily, I think.

I did - in Fly Down, lol. I've loved MR since he broke his maiden, but I sincerely thought he was overmatched at this point. I was wrong - and am glad. He's fast and game - can't complain about him one bit. The Travers is going to be tough because I'm sure another horse will press him, but he's earned a spot in that race.
