She rocks...from TDN:

No Stress As Goldikova Makes It Ten G1s at Deauville
Posted: 10:00 AM ET
15.40 at DVL G1 Prix Rothschild (ex Prix d'Astarte) [1m (T)] Winner: Goldikova (Ire), m, 5 by Anabaa

GOLDIKOVA (IRE), m, 5, by Anabaa--Born Gold, by Blushing Groom (Fr).
O/B-Wertheimer & Frere; T-Freddy Head; J-Olivier Peslier. Lifetime Record: 18 starts, 13 wins, 4 places, €3,293,498.
Despite her already outstanding record, Goldikova seems to be getting better with every race and made light work of this latest test to equal the record of the great Miesque in reaching double figures at the top level. Sent off the 2-5 favorite, the bay was content to track her rabbit Only Green (Ire) (Green Desert) and Music Show (Ire) (Noverre) before easing to the front passing the quarter pole and drawing away under hand riding to beat the latter by three lengths, with Elusive Wave (Ire) (Elusive City) one length away in third.

She's fantastic, we all know this but I sure hope Hannon changes his mind on sending Paco Boy for the BC, I really think he has a very good chance in stopping her 3rd BC mile win at probably/hopefully 5X her odds and from a racing fan standpoint it brings some intrigue to the race. Otherwise she will win in a walk, which wouldn't be a bad thing I guess. But From a betting standpoint it is not interesting at all.

Now this is a REAL champion mare - she runs where the competition is, not just the race closest to home. She may have not been good enough to beat Zarkava at 3, but which of the two is becoming a legend? A note to the Mosses might be in order.

She finished 2nd today to Makfi? Never heard of him...

Hannon on Paco Boy after checking in 3rd; "He could be retired, he could go to America or the Foret - it's up to the owners."

Saw the replay of the race, Goldikova didn't look to be travelling as good as she usually does early on and probably made the lead too soon, Soumillon on Makfi just sat behind her under cover, got last run and ran on better today. Goldikova for her part was game in defeat, Paco Boy loomed dangerously but died in his run to narrowly miss 2nd. No other horse was close to the top 3.

No shame in that for Goldikova, who wouldn't have been entirely suited by the ground. Makfi very impressively won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May (beating Canford Cliffs). It's good to see him back in that form.

Actually, the only time Makfi has been beaten in his 5-start career was when he reportedly had a throat infection and finished seventh behind Canford Cliffs at Ascot.

Part 3 coming up in Paco v Goldi

have to say the ground is providing the real question mark here. If anyone fancies Goldi or indeed Paco, you will be getting a fantastic price on them. Ill be taking them on with Joanna - I think she'll shock them

Wow Paco Boy is 11-1 in the US. Maybe he's the play.

I hear Paco will be following Goldi over to Churchill for another attempt to beat her. That should be a fantastic race with both trying to end their career on a high..

This is what you want from a horse racing rivalrly.

Hannon made abit of an excuse for PBoy with the draw, in reality Goldikova was the best horse. Ironically had he won today, I don't believe we would be seeing him at the BC, but you have to believe the owners don't want to end a solid career on a close 2nd place downer. It would be a race to look fwd to if or when they meet at CD.

"Elvis" refused visa for Kentucky

Paco Boy, who worked with his customary enthusiasm under Richard Hughes at Herridge on Sunday, will have one more gallop before climbing aboard the plane next Monday for the final race of his career, the Breeders Cup Mile at Churchill Downs on November 6.

However, Richard Hannon is "disappointed" that the Indian stable lad who has ridden Paco Boy every morning for the last two years has been refused a working visa by the American immigration authorities.

Hannon said:"Don't ask me for the lad's proper name, but we have always called him Elvis. We filled in all the relevant forms so that he could go out with Paco Boy to Kentucky, and now we hear that his application has been turned down.

"Apparently, they are not required to give us a reason for the refusal, but I think it is very unfair and feel sorry for the lad, who idolises Paco Boy and has done so much with the horse these last two seasons.

"I don't know whether they are frightened that Elvis will do a runner, but he is a smashing lad who just wants to do his job and he would have flown out with the horse on November 1 and returned to Herridge the following Monday.

"We also applied for visas for two of our British lasses, Clare and Stacey, and they have both been granted, so why pick on Elvis. Now you know why I will not be going - America is not for me. I tried it twice and didn't like the place, so I will leave it to Richard jnr and Richard Hughes to bring home a fistful of dollars.

"Paco Boy has kept his form remarkably well through the season - he had his first run at Sandown in April - and, while we've obviously got Goldikova to beat, he does have that terrific turn of foot, so ought to be suited by the style of their racing out there, and who knows we might just get lucky."

THis is really really really stupid and don't laugh but is there the slightest chance Paco Boy ummm, how do I word this? If this kid has been with him for the past 2 years and he's suddenly thrown on a plane and in a new place... could this have a negative effect?

It sounds silly but I honestly don't know.

Anyway, sucks that he isn't allowed to come.
