Now that I've had a chance to look up LBT's pedigree - I'm not sure Zenyatta could beat Lisa's Booby Trap on synthetics.

It's a lot of fun being as smart as your typical Zenyatta fan.
Unfortunately you are revealing more about your lack of ability to assess race dynamics and their influence on a horses' style. You also really don't get what she is about. Whether you think she is a fraud/ducking her competition/or some other foolish idea, you just refuse to evaluate her objectively. Evaluating a horse objectively is an absolute necessity for a handicapper. You are obviously showing that you fall dramatically short in that regard. And your handicapping will undoubtedly suffer as well. Good luck in your betting.

Uh huh, because we all know you're proven as both a better bettor and handicapper than I am.

Dream on.

Zenyatta wouldn't have had a chance against Hallowed Dreams at six furlongs and probably at seven furlongs. Among Hallowed Dreams' open company victims at FG during the 2000-2001 meet were Roxelana, Fiesty Countess, My Alibi, and Steal A Heart.

I remember fooling myself into thinking she was one of the best female sprinters in the country because of her record and her performances... and later taking abuse for it when she finally lost a step or two.

That wasn't an unreasonable position to take at the time. I wasn't a big fan of her until that FG meet when she won for fun in the Pan Zareta and Victoria Lass.

What baffles me about all of this is after she won the BC classic even the staunchest Zenyatta doubters said "well ok that finally proves she's a great horse". Since then she's won three more and now she sucks again. How can that be

You are rated based on your competition, no? How does beating the likes of Rinterval further her greatness?

I like Zenyatta. No, I really like Zenyatta. I don't like seeing her face total crap all the time. That's probably most fans' complaint.

18 for 18 makes her greatness unquestioned IMO.

No one said she sucks. The idea that people defend her without regard for context baffles me. Any horse that wins 18 in a row against any manner of competition obviously is a superior individual. But what I maintain is that this years campaign has shown her to be merely superior to untested and decidely inferior (to be kind) fillies and really hasnt done a single thing to make anyone but the ardent supporters believe otherwise. Winning the BC was a very nice accomplishment (despite the obviously weak field for the event) but it hardly qualifies her for the ridiclousness that is spouted about her place among the greats, all of which proved themselves time after time in the top races, winning and losing to the best competition.

Well said, but the 50th time this same statement has been made to no avail with the Zen crowd. You cant rationalize with the irrational.....they read your statement as such:

How "great" do you have to be in this sport to be qualified for the Hall of Fame? If Point Given was elected, ANYONE could be...

I think we'll find out if Smarty Jones ever makes it in.

I can't imagine a situation where Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra don't both get in. Of course, I also can't imagine why Sky Beauty is still in the waiting room.
