Honestly though, don't you think the races are a bit disappointing this year?

Maybe they are good betting races, but the quality is not there... IMO.

The Sword Dancer cast would be destroyed by a third string Euro. Can you argue that? When is the last time Telling won? I bet Al Khali, what does he do everytime he steps up? Sure he can win an allowance race....

The Sword Dancer and the Million have been splitting up the older male turf division for years. Given the usual lack of depth in that division, I honestly don't know that it is reasonable to expect much more. When you have two big G1 races in the same division one week apart, you simply aren't going to get two full fields of outstanding horses. I thought the Sword Dancer field was fine given that fact, as I explained to you on that thread.

Certainly they aren't the best races in the history of Arlington's signature day, but I wouldn't call them "miserable." I think the big Paddy-Workin showdown in the Secretariat makes that race interesting. The Beverly D is a highly competetive race. The Million has the division leader and several intriguing spoilers coming off of very good prep races.
Again, nobody is going to confuse any of these races with the 1978 JCGC, but they aren't bad.

So Attfield is 0 for his last 17 in GI races. He also has a positive ROI on the turf over the last five years by a large margin. 98-526 with an ROI of $2.41, that's phenomenal with that kind of sample size.

Eclair De Lune looks very intruiging. Came a game second to Tuscan Evening (RIP) last out and McCanaly was very high on this horse from the start and him shipping out of cali is very rare.

I actually think these three races are all pretty interesting races - and atleast two of them should ultimately be good betting races.

I don't know if I'd agree with that either. Especially considering what we've seen in Gr 1's so far this year.

Two of these races have clearly the best American horse within the divison - and there are some interesting Euro's as well.

Plus the Hall of Fame Stakes is taking horses from the Secretariat and the Beverly is competing for horses with the Diana.
