I heard something about the Hamas also supporting this mosque. Has anyone else heard anything about the Hamas supporting this mosque? Lets face it we have a worthless President who could care less about his own country and would rather kiss all the other contries @ss'. Hopefully this November will be a telling of the future of this country. He also would rather take the side of a Muslim before taking side with this country. I also know that not all Muslims are bad people.

This is the hypocrisy that they are known for. Say they are tame American Muslims, but get money from countries that don't have many tame Muslims. They are simply full of bull shyt.

More fear-mongering! Six degrees of hate for Muslims!

It was part of a cable comedy skit the other day, talking about the fact that the second-largest shareholder of News Corp (Wall Street Journal and Fox News), after Rupert Murdoch and family, is Muslim Prince Awaleed bin Talal of Saudi. He owns 2.5 billion dollars of Fox and Wall Street Journal.

The Muslims own Fox and WSJ ! OMG!

It is amazing how our gov officials push separation of church & st, and our pres can openly say is it okay for a mosque at ground zero, yet areas of the US can’t even put a simple white cross up for police officers. The ground zero issue is not one of freedom of religion; it is about respecting the 1000s of lost souls..., their families, the US, and not allowing the extremist / anti American groups to mock the USA.

I've been to ground zero, and within 2 -3 blocks is all the same area. The so called cultural center includes a mosque. Why there? This is basically a financial district without any real Muslim population. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf made many of feelings known in the 60 Minutes show, and he supports a strict Muslim law going against our constitutional way of life. I’m proud of this countries freedom of religion and our tolerance; however, this will be used, if only in symbolism, by those who want to destroy us, to glorify the evil of their act. Don’t be naive. What’s the big fuss? -ask the families of 911. For our Muslim friends who want peace, they should easily understand this is not the right location.

"Why is there such opposition? Because the people aren’t buying into the administration’s talking points on this matter. What they understand, and what the administration fails to understand, is that this building has nothing to do with religious freedom. Muslims are not being prohibited from practicing their religion. They are simply being asked to display a sense of decency by building the mosque in an area not directly involved in such an emotional event for our nation; away from the site where thousands of lives ended in a declaration of war from radical Islam." Quote from Rusty Weiss

From Rachel Zoll, AP Religion Writer
"American Muslims who support the proposed mosque and Islamic center near ground zero are facing skeptics within their own faith — those who argue that the project is insensitive to Sept. 11 victims and needlessly provocative at a... time when Muslims are pressing for wider acceptance in the U.S."

and Ms. Zoll continues by quoting from a senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies
".....This, in my view, will be perceived by radicals in Islam as a defeat for their ideology. They think in a very primitive way. If they see a mosque near ground zero, this would certainly be perceived as a sign of victory for al-Qaeda. In the end, they will think, `They are bowing to us.'"

You say there isn't a Muslim population there, yet this group and other Muslim groups have been in that neighborhood since before the WTC was built, for 40-50 years.

This group has been at the exact location in question since last year. Why should these Americans be kicked out of their private property now? Why are their fellow Americans turning against them now?

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf trained our FBI on counterterrorism tactics, and is currently on a USA-government-sponsored tour of the middle east trying to - sigh - show how tolerant Americans are of Muslims. Rauf is also executive director of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, and sits on the advisory panel of the 9/11 memorial and museum.

Just quote the whole GD thing, and take it as a whole and believe my post was more that this is just not a good idea.

....as for Rauf, it still doesn't change the fact of what he said in the interview on 60 minutes.

You can practice your religion - just not where "I" have to see it, and you are not allowed where "I" don't want it - Rusty Weiss

Be quiet, stay hidden, don't make waves with the race in power - Rachel Zoll

A mosque for Muslim Americans = victory for al Quaeda - an unnamed senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

America is doomed.

....as for Rauf, it still doesn't change the fact of what he said in the interview on 60 minutes. - pretty much exactly what George Bush said about the "why", wasn't it?

Nice changing of words of what was not said or meant....but this is what you miss from my quote:

It is amazing how our gov officials push separation of church & st, and our pres can openly say is it okay for a mosque at ground zero, yet areas of the US can’t even put a simple white cross up for police officers.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a nut. Did you see what he said in this new audio? He said, "We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non Muslims."

He's comparing our country to al-Qaeda.

Yes, that was the point of what was said. Probably best that we start rounding up all the Muslims in America, huh?

it's not new, is it? just newly found? the guy has a right to his beliefs, wrong as most of us would find them. or maybe he's just pandering to the audience that was there. the real shame is that he's not the only american citizen who thinks this either.
