Default Principle Secret

Should have taken the Norfolk Stakes today.Don't know why he was ridden that way.Solis can certainly read a form, and see Pat had a horse who wants the lead.If he had given P Secret the trip that Kent gave his horse, then P Secret wins that race comfortably.Maybe the horse just ran off today.I can't believe their plan was to try to wire a race with Spot the Diplomat in it.

I think they had the 1 hole. The track is generally playing for speed, and they agreed to try to steal it up front.Alex even let the horse come out a little going into the 1st turn(like they do if they want to be sure to lead into the turn.)If you won the Best Pal Stakes by laying just off the pace, then why change to this way of riding him?

AND THE ANSWER IS:

"Trainer Christopher Paasch was upset that Principle Secret was on the lead. Ridden by Alex Solis, Principle Secret set fractions of 22.56 and 45.89 seconds, led by 1 1/2 lengths in the stretch, and was caught near the line.

"Not too many 2-year-olds can do what he did yesterday," Paasch said Monday. "I was disappointed. I thought he had a couple of chances to take him back.

"I think he's a really good horse. On the turn, I thought he was done. He was pressed the whole way. When Stormello came to him, it was like, 'Oh, we're not done yet.' "-DRF

I was impressed with the run for sure.
say what you will about the speed bias out there, but that was a big run for a 2YO and he is the ONLY west coast 2YO I take seriously in the BC Juvenile.
PSecret is a nice horse.
