Default Steve Young, KMc in sale dispute with German breeder

Quirky but potentially serious story in NY Post today, on news side, that has the sale of Neon Light in dispute. German breeder has filed suit against horse agent Steve Young and KMc...

Tale of whoa in fight over thoroughbred
By KIERAN CROWLEY

Thoroughbred Neon Light was scratched from a $100,000 race at Belmont last week because of a battle over who is the horse's rightful owner, sparking a lawsuit and an FBI investigation. The German "owner" who filed the federal civil lawsuit is breeder Pavel Kusmin, who claims a racehorse agent last month illegally sold the 3-year-old bay filly for $323,000 to Sheila Rosenblum, a designer of yacht interiors, without his permission.

In his legal papers, Kusmin says he went to Belmont on Sept. 22, saw the horse at the stables, and confronted the horse's trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, and racehorse agent Stephen Young, demanding to see sale documents. The lawsuit claims the men told him to return the next day, but when he did, the horse was gone. Kusmin then reported the alleged theft to the FBI.

This filly is entered in the Valley View(G3) at Keeneland on Friday.

What are the odds that she's actually going to run? Did they get/need a court order to allow an entry in that race? I gathered they had whatever ducks in a row they were supposed to have to enter her in the Pebbles Stakes before, only to see her withdrawn. Did anybody bother to tell Keeneland or does someone have to object like I assume happened at Belmont?

McLaughlin said the dispute has been resolved. No idea how or what the deal was. Quickest FBI investigation ever?

She would've been disappointed if she ran in that spot.

They called in the Team from "Criminal Minds" to solve it.
