Lucky to Coolmore- retired
Hate this. He could have been the star of the handicap division next year.

I don't know if I'd ever use Looking at Lucky and star in the same sentence.
One of the leaders? Sure. |

Must have been that monster finish the the BCC that sealed the deal.

Was there really ever any doubt about this? Sucks for us. . . I guess. . . but pretty solid addition for Coolmore.

Why? You think he'll make a good sire?

He doesn't strike me as being a huge stallion prospect. He has good bloodlines through Smart Strike, but he never was the healthiest or best looking.

As I mentioned a few days ago, the price was supposedly $16 million.

Not really. . . but he's marketable and they don't have much in the U.S. besides GC.

Interesting number, this 35k.
Blame, QR and LAL all 35k. |

this is some stone cold bullshit, I cant believe Mike Pegram will not campaign him as a 4 yr old. Coolmore must of ponied up some significant cash for Lucky. Dubai World Cup and a BC Classic were certainly races he could of taken down. A damn shame! A horse that we have not seen the best from thats for sure, he had a couple more gears imo

you have to understand these horses arent machines, they are living and breathing beings. Hes only a 3 yr old, and gave indication that he could of been better than what he has already shown. Showing the potential to do it and doing it are different things, but if given the chance who knows.

Thats really not fair, is it? He was h2h with Blame. Blame being the older horse pulled away. I could easily see L@L being better then Blame was this year, NEXT YEAR.

Illinois Derby winner- retired Wood Memorial winner- retired Kentucky Derby winner- retired Preakness winner- retired Haskell winner- retired Jim Dandy winner- retired Travers winner- retired Fly Down's campaigned might get derailed in Dubai. Won't be surprised if we've already seen the best of Drosselmeyer, Sidney's Candy, and Twirling Candy. Apart will have the Nicanor-like burden of following in Blame's footsteps. That leaves two state-breds in Caracortado and Friend Or Foe to carry the West and East at least at the start of the year. I have to think that Morning Line is in position to have a very good year next season given his gutsy BC Dirt Mile. Wasn't the greatest of fields, but he withstood all sorts of pressure from more experienced rivals only to get beat a dirty nose by opportunist Dakota Phone. If he sticks with races at 9f or more we might see some Old Trieste (see DrugS's trivia thread) type performances from him. |
