In retrospect, I have to think that Paddy O'Prado would have at the very least hit the board in the BC Turf (maybe 12f isn't his best distance, but he certainly can handle the added furlongs). Had he done that and then won this Hollywood Derby Allowance 2x masquerading as a Grade 1, I don't think we would need to bother debating whether Gio Ponti or Winchester should be the one to back into the turf champion Eclipse.
Actually, a good debate would be who was managed worse by Dale Romans, Paddy O'Prado or First Dude. |

I'll try and beat the Blue Penis with 5-Jairzihno and 1-Lions Story in the Hollywood Derby

Bad horses win bad races, this could be explanded to bad horses also win grade 1's.

First Dude hit the board in a ton of grade ones, and nearly won the Preakness. I'd rather take my chances in those big races, have a good time, and hope to get lucky rather than finding softer spots and winning a bunch of 100k races.

He'll find the spot this winter at Gulfstream. He will go over at 1/9 in a nw1 race there, probably a prep right before the Donn if they target it, I would think they would

So you would have skipped the Super Derby with him, too?

Really? I would think you would want the opposite. Why not run First Dude in the Super Derby? He would have been 4-5 in that spot. I know its not 100k, but its a lot softer then the Belmont, Haskall and even the Parx Race this year. |

Any horse with any talent might be worth a stab against First Dude at 1-9. He does not like to win, and who knows how he comes back?
