Default Autumn at CD

was feeling down last night and took a drive
went by Churchill Downs at twilight
and it was something to behold
the twin spires were lighted
and gave off a beautiful glow
really awe-inspiring, and made me feel good
light at the end of the tunnel type of feeling
gonna be a great BC!

I'll never forget going to Churchill Tuesday during Derby Week as the sun came up. Seeing the sun rise, horses taking to the track, a light fog, yeah it is special.

Playa~been here since April...why? I honestly couldn't endure another Wisconsin winter and keep my sanity, or what's left of it
ever see or read "The Shining"? I was like "Heeere's Johnny!"
every March, some dig the north, but I grew up in Alabama (3-week winters)
holler at me if you're ever in the area!

My friends up there have told me to pack my long-sleeve clothes in my return for the BC....I'm looking forward to it.....Hell, it was 89 degrees in Ocala yesterday, so I have gladly forgotten what the winter feels like

Bellamy-
I'm from MN, and I go to Keeneland every December for their handicapping contest. If you escaped to KY to escape winter, it's not much better there. It's a lil better, but not much. I know Kentucky is only sorta s"south", but I deem it a "southern state" eventhouygh I shouldn't The verdict last 2 years I've been there- just as cold as in MN. But you're right. KY won't get -10 temps.

hmm, well the Kentuckians claim they get snow maybe once a year
I hate to shovel...plus the length of winter is shorter
those are my two main things
other reasons though for my move
it's a nice centralized location
Cincy, Indy, Nashville all within a two hour radius
the horse racing is the icing on the cake

ahh Joel, it's not that bad
but if you're coming from 89
heh, bring a down jacket, lol
I like 4 seasons, especially spring & fall
but there's something decadent
about being able to golf in January

DD,
you probably know that they used to schedule the Bama-Tennesee game on the same day of the BC for years...my college buddies would always wonder why I'd skip out on one of the biggest football days of the year to go watch horse racing...few things take precident over Bama-UT, but for the BC does, at least for me, but...thank God, they changed it!
